I can't resist grabbing "comment #200" on this thread and just say
thanks to all for the comments below. On PlanetFeedback, you can
never entirely predict where the discussion will lead. As I've said
in a couple other posts, I respectfully ask that we continue working
together to improve the overall quality of our "conversation" about
consumer feedback to companies.

Well I see an awful lot of people defending their positions, and
saying the criticism OP's get for their letters is helpul.
I know of one letter in which someone noted a problem, and appealed to
users to tone down that criticism, and return to the principles for
which the site was founded.
Yeah, his name was Pete if I recall correctly, and he's a founder of
Planetfeedback.
Y'all still think there's no problem?

Pete & Greg, I've been getting e-mails from a gentleman who says
you're having a problem with my posts regarding Motel 6, are deleting
them and if I don't quit, I could get into serious trouble - do you
know anything about this?

I completely agree with donno's post, and now realize that blkwidow
not only doesn't understand the purpose of this site, but she doesn't
know how to physically use it either. For someone so concerned with
comments, you'd think she would have figured out how to post them by
now. Her comments below are redundant and all over the place, making
it look like her only purpose here is pursuing a mission that she
somehow thinks is her responsibility. There's no point in having a
discussion with a closed-minded person who just keeps repeating the
same thing over and over. She may have a valid point in there
somewhere, but if no one cares enough to listen anymore because she
can't keep them interested, it's just a waste of time.

It appears that this site is being used inappropriately.

Recently a poster with the handle blkwidow has been posting
accusations about the regular users of this site. blkwidow has also
been making statements that letters that have been widely regarded as
without merit are in fact valid. However, blkwidow fails to give any
evidence to support his/her opinion. Instead, blkwidow resorts to
attacks on the people commenting on said letters (aka "the regulars"),
calling them "morons" and "idiots".

In addition, blkwidow fails to understand how the site works. Even
though blkwidow uses the term "regulars", blkwidow doesn't seem to
know the term means these people are indeed regular members who offer
feedback. Witness the complaint blkwidow has made that the regulars
are consistently found to give feedback, as if it is an inapproprite
use of the site (!).

Finally, blkwidow has chosen inappropriate venues for posting his/her
complaints. While blkwidow should have opened their own profile and
created a blog (or posted a complaint to PFB), blkwidow hijacked this
thread to make an attack on the regular members of the site. Such
opportunistic behavior should not go unnoticed.

While a site such as Planet Feedback must be open and public by
design, I implore all regular members to be on the lookout for rogue
character assassins of blkwidow's ilk.

What good is a letter if it doesn't have a valid complaint?

Some criticize letters because they are pointing out what is wrong
with it and what could make it a better letter.

When someone writes to a business, they have to be professional. If
being professional isn't important to the letter writer, why should it
be important for the business to read and act upon?

Some of the commenters here work in the industry they are responding
to and telling them what is feasible or not. Their experience can help
direct the letter writer to an outcome they may not have considered.

Unreasonable letters get the most hits as you can tell from browsing
the Top 25. What I guess you haven't seen are the letters where the
very same people you call bullies are commending other well written
letters whether they be complaints, compliments, or suggestions. But
since people don't regularly comment on well written letters, they
don't make it into the Top 25.

If you don't like the "slams" on the letters, don't read them. Instead
you could dedicate your time reading the compliments that roll in and
comment on those. You can be sure that I and other "bullies" will be
there as well.

about letters needing to be well written is one of the most overused,
and defensively at that most of the time. What I think most of the
complaints have been about, is abuse directed at sincere OP's with
reasonable complaints. The site's founder, Pete, wrote a letter about
that, and while virtually no one attacked him with the same vengeance
as usually reserved for first-timers, there weren't very many comments
acknowledging what he said, either. The site's slogan, 'the voice of
one, the power of many' can only be effective if first timers get
support for well written and valid complaints, something which rarely
happens.

How come no one posted a 6 paragraph letter of complaint about the
site being down, asking for compensation?

also it was kicking me over to a complimentary gift card post for the
gift card scam post. thought a hacker got to the system lol

thank you it is working fine now, though I thought I screwed up my
computer. whooo!

And that now I was being cut off. I am relieved it was not just me,
but am sorry the whole site is having problems.

Thank you for all your hard work in getting this site back on it's
feet. I was going stir crazy! ;)

Nothing is coming through on RSS feeds, or is it that there is no one
