I can't resist grabbing "comment #200" on this thread and just say
thanks to all for the comments below. On PlanetFeedback, you can
never entirely predict where the discussion will lead. As I've said
in a couple other posts, I respectfully ask that we continue working
together to improve the overall quality of our "conversation" about
consumer feedback to companies.

Well I see an awful lot of people defending their positions, and
saying the criticism OP's get for their letters is helpul.
I know of one letter in which someone noted a problem, and appealed to
users to tone down that criticism, and return to the principles for
which the site was founded.
Yeah, his name was Pete if I recall correctly, and he's a founder of
Planetfeedback.
Y'all still think there's no problem?

Pete & Greg, I've been getting e-mails from a gentleman who says
you're having a problem with my posts regarding Motel 6, are deleting
them and if I don't quit, I could get into serious trouble - do you
know anything about this?

I completely agree with donno's post, and now realize that blkwidow
not only doesn't understand the purpose of this site, but she doesn't
know how to physically use it either. For someone so concerned with
comments, you'd think she would have figured out how to post them by
now. Her comments below are redundant and all over the place, making
it look like her only purpose here is pursuing a mission that she
somehow thinks is her responsibility. There's no point in having a
discussion with a closed-minded person who just keeps repeating the
same thing over and over. She may have a valid point in there
somewhere, but if no one cares enough to listen anymore because she
can't keep them interested, it's just a waste of time.

It appears that this site is being used inappropriately.

Recently a poster with the handle blkwidow has been posting
accusations about the regular users of this site. blkwidow has also
been making statements that letters that have been widely regarded as
without merit are in fact valid. However, blkwidow fails to give any
evidence to support his/her opinion. Instead, blkwidow resorts to
attacks on the people commenting on said letters (aka "the regulars"),
calling them "morons" and "idiots".

In addition, blkwidow fails to understand how the site works. Even
though blkwidow uses the term "regulars", blkwidow doesn't seem to
know the term means these people are indeed regular members who offer
feedback. Witness the complaint blkwidow has made that the regulars
are consistently found to give feedback, as if it is an inapproprite
use of the site (!).

Finally, blkwidow has chosen inappropriate venues for posting his/her
complaints. While blkwidow should have opened their own profile and
created a blog (or posted a complaint to PFB), blkwidow hijacked this
thread to make an attack on the regular members of the site. Such
opportunistic behavior should not go unnoticed.

While a site such as Planet Feedback must be open and public by
design, I implore all regular members to be on the lookout for rogue
character assassins of blkwidow's ilk.

Let's see, I've been written off as hopeless, called redundant, a
waste of time, no point in having a conversation with, closed-minded,
obtuse, unwise, mouth blaring (sorry for the caps) failing to
understand the site, opportunisitic behavior and total freak. Now my
favorite one was the "hijacked this thread to make an attack on the
regular members of the site". Didn't know it was a club with a
membership. Oh yes, I was told to exit also. Is this a private club?
I get it, this is part of their charm.

more like a community, and like most communities, it consists of all
kinds of people with different points of view and opinions who
communicate and exchange ideas in a civil, respectful manner. If you
wish to be a member of the community, check your persecution complex
at the door.

You are getting a late start though, and you still have an attitude.

Do you know what "hijack a thread" means? I am the one who said it,
and that is precisely what you did. What did you proceed to do in
that post? You attacked the members of the site. There is no
misstatement of fact. This isn't 3rd grade where you sneak up to the
board whne the teacher has his back turned and write some embarrassing
message.

To avoid hijacking a thread, you can write you own letter to PFB, or
open your profile and create a blog. You refused to open your
profile. Fine, write your own letter then. Learn the etiquette.
This is all in the open, and you should be browsing around to see how
the site works. Also, more humble when you put your foot in a pile of
doo-doo.

As the poster above said, this is a community. It isn't just a
repository of letters. Have you looked far enough to note several of
these folks have taken the time to meet each other and socialize? It
isn't a club. It is a loosely knit group of people who have differing
experiences and opinions.

You drop into a community, slander the members, and what exactly do
you expect? It was *suggested* you leave if you find it unacceptable
to lurk here. Is there something objectively wrong with that
suggestion? It makes no sense to hang around and be miserable. That
is like staying in a job you hate. But there are no kids here to
support, no lease to break.

Personally I can't imagine calling a group of people morons and
idiots, and then sticking around for them to prove that they aren't
(why else would I stay - who would want to be around idiots and
morons?) It would never happen. Maybe the anonymity of the internet
makes this possible. Seriously, I wouldn't be able to "show" my face
if I did that. You could eat some humble pie and recover from that,
but so far you are pouring fuel on the flames.

How come no one posted a 6 paragraph letter of complaint about the
site being down, asking for compensation?

also it was kicking me over to a complimentary gift card post for the
gift card scam post. thought a hacker got to the system lol

thank you it is working fine now, though I thought I screwed up my
computer. whooo!

And that now I was being cut off. I am relieved it was not just me,
but am sorry the whole site is having problems.

Thank you for all your hard work in getting this site back on it's
feet. I was going stir crazy! ;)

I'm just glad it's not my computer. I was about ready to throw the
harddrive out the window.

Nothing is coming through on RSS feeds, or is it that there is no one
