Oh Where, Oh Where Did Wendy's Frescata Sandwiches Go?

Dear Sir or Madam:
Many years ago, I fell in love with your Taco Supremo Salad and your Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad. I used to visit Wendy's at least three times a week and order these products. When the Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad went, I still continued to visit Wendy's for the Taco Supremo Salad. When the Taco Supremo Salad went, I stopped going to Wendy's altogether.
But a year or so ago you came out with Frescata sandwiches. I, again, fell in love with your food. It was great to see a healthy alternative to the rest of the fast food products.
I was probably back at Wendy's three or four times a week again ordering the Frescata sandwich.
But now you have taken that away from me as well.
I know your products have to meet a certain sales target or else they will no doubtfully get the boot. But I just wanted to let you know that the only three products I have come to love at Wendy's have all disappeared.
I went to Wendy's yesterday to get a Frosty since I had my wisdom teeth pulled out; the dentist said to have milkshakes. The lady at the local branch recognized me and asked where have I been? I sadly told her that now that you have discontinued the Frescata sandwiches, there is really nothing left for me at Wendy's.
You will note that I have written you a few letters in the past using PlanetFeedback to compliment your company in its strong service commitment to customers. I will keep looking to see if you come up with another product to have me come back to being a regular customer at Wendy's. But until you do, there is nothing for me to go back for.
**We'd like your thoughts on this letter. Please take moment and complete our survey. Thanks! --The PFB Team

I agree with you. The Frescatta sandwiches really brought something special to the menu. Being fresh and unique in flavor was a big plus. It seems like Wendy's has cut back their menu choices to picks that are ordinary and quick to make to get out to customers fast. There is no longer anything that pulls me back to the restaurant since burgers can be picked up anywhere. Having removed the Frescattas (and years ago the pitas) was a big mistake on Wendy's part. Consumers are looking for healthy, tasty alternatives to just hamburgers and salads.

Dito.
I also enjoyed the Frescata sandwiches, and would almost always go out of my way to go to a Wendy's with my kids rather than their competitors because I felt the food was of better quality and there were choices that were overall healthier and tastier.
Now that the Frescata sandwiches are not available, unfortunately I will be searching elseware. I hear Arby's has sandwiches that are pretty good, so will need to give them a try. Though I enjoy a good burger, I try to seek healthier choices. I certainly hope they bring these sandwiches back at some point.

I think the quality at Wendy's has declined a lot over the last few years. They used to have great hamburgers, now they usually taste like cardboard. Window service quality has declined too.
I never cared for the frescata sandwich, but I understand your disappointment.

They might have disappeared because they weren't that popular. Either way, you should be glad they did, those are loaded with fat.

I also understand how you feel about food getting discontinued. Applebee's does it all the time.
However..I went there just before Christmas and they have this new sandwich called the bruschetta burger.
It was delish! I'm sure when I'm ready to go back and have one it will be gone....
On the bottom was 2 or 3 thick slices of mozz. cheese, then the burger, then a nice coating of pesto, then the bruschetta. The bread was 2 large pieces of garlic panini. Best meal I ever had there.
I notice some of these chains always advertising food and then say "get it now, it's for a limited time only!"

You know, I really was not impressed with the Frescata sandwiches myself. But as the wife of a man that literally dances with joy every time McDonald's brings the McRib back (bleh), I can sympathize with your plight. Really a fantastic letter! Good luck!

I didnt like them at all. I tried them when they first came out and it was bland, boring and the bread was too hard. I could have made a better sandwhich at home.
I stuck to the cheeseburgers. LOL! But now, sadly, those are gone for me as well. They dont fit into my diet. LOL!

I miss them, too. The chicken salad was my favorite. I ended up getting the new jalepeno burger the other day instead, but that's a one-time thing, since it's obviously very bad for me.

I use to love Mc Donalds MC D LT's, now they are gone. And I use to love Taco Bells Cheese A Rito's now they are gone. That happens in life, somehow we all choose to press forward and find other things to satisfy our hunger.

First off, ouchy on the teeth, I sure hope you feel better. I also hope you were eating the milkshake, not using a straw.
Good for you for taking the time to write them on this. Usually if it was one kind of food, its like "you should just find something else" but when its 3 different kinds, all taken away, it speaks volumes! They need to hear from their target audiences!
The only thing I can suggest is to try to find something else on their menu to "tide you over" until the new products and even then, make sure you know the new product is just a short time only.
Good luck and let us know what they say to you!!

I didn't know they discontinued it! That sucks! That's the only thing I like from Wendy's. Oh well, I guess I'm with you Paul. No more Wendy's for me.

Great letter! My wife also loves that sandwich, although I am not a huge fan of Wendys. I hope that you hear back from them. Let us know!

Ah .... I hear ya! When I worked at a Wendy's many moons ago, we had just discontinued the Pita sandwiches after YEARS! Boy were people put out! If you have an Arby's near you...they make similar sandwiches...as does Boston Market and Panera Bread.

I feel your pain...many years ago when McDonalds had a burger of the month, I fell in love with the patty melt, it was a burger with swiss cheese, terriyaki onions on a rye bun. Imagine my surprise when they reintroduced it last year right around Easter. Sadly, and grossly, I ate it almost every day, and suddenly it was gone. I've been pretty sad.

I'm sorry to hear that. I like the sandwiches, too, especially in the summer. They're a great alternative to greasy, fried food.
Have you ever tried Wendy's chili? I usually get a plain baked potato, and instead of using butter or sour cream, I fill the potato up with chili. It's really good and not as unhealthy as some of the other stuff on the menu. It's also cheap, very filling, and warms you up on a cold day. It's also something they always have and will probably never discontinue, so you won't be disappointed in the future.
Just a suggestion. Hope you give it a try!

I understand your pain. I have been in the same situation, and I have to tell you I ultimately have given up on the establishment in question. If they only have one or two things you like, if limits your options. I hate to admit it, but I was hung up on honey bbq wings at KFC. It was the only thing I went for. They used to be somewhat seasonal. They would be there for months, then gone. After leaving for a few years, I stopped back and found out they were permanently put on the menu but they had changed the chicken "wings" to white meat, not wings. So, no more KFC.
Angela made a good suggestion below. Perhaps you can find a place with a more stable selection, and avoid reliance on promotional items that come and go like the wind.
You wrote a good letter, but it may not result in any changes to their routine. Good luck though.

Fast-food chains often introduce new/different food ideas for short periods of time. Hardee's used to do that with the mushroom 'n' swiss burger -- it'd come out 2-3 times a year. That didn't really make sense, as people seemed to love it, and it didn't require much in the way of extra supplies or space or something like that.
I think you're better off finding a place that consistently provides healthful alternatives, rather than rely on a fast-food place to do so occasionally. Subway is a decent option, for example.
But I know how it can suck when your favorite dish is removed from a menu. Good luck!
