I just wanted to add that I had to return 2 jackets to HSN. I sent them back on the 24th and my refund was processed yesterday. Now I definately think that HSN dropped the ball with the OP's order.
I hope she finally got her TV!

She has not gotten to enjoy the biggest part of Christmas? Boy lady, you need to get you AND your daughter's priorities straight. Presents ARE NOT the biggest part of Christmas. Being with family and sharing the holidays is what is. If you keep up this attitude, your daughter is going to grow up to be very materialistic.

Why is everyone so stuck on the fact that a 10 year old got a nice present for Christmas? I can count a TON of things that were pretty expensive that I got as a kid that I didn't need.
This is a valid complaint. HSN dropped the ball here. We all know the child's Christmas wasn't really RUINED and people add things like that just for effect. I'm not saying being over dramatic is okay but it doesn't make this complaint any less valid.

This complaint, I think, is all about communication ~ or the lack thereof.
If I shipped something back, regardless of what it was, and expected a timely return, I would hope that a company would at least keep me in the loop as to the anticipated time frame that I would receive a replacement item.
Come on guys, this guy got a damaged item, the least the company can do is replace it. I bet if you got something like this as a gift and were all excited to use it, you'd be disappointed in the time it took to process the return with no communication as well.

Next year, instead of buying 'things' take your kids to a childrens hospital, or a homeless shelter to volunteer for Christmas.
Suddenly, her Christmas' might not be SO bad when she sees others who really, cannot have a Christmas at all.

Wow, I am not even going to touch the fact that you and daughter both have MAJOR entitlement issues.
Instead of shipping it back to HSN you should have looked at contacting the maker of the television. Your daugther would probably be watching her new tv by now if you had.
By the way, I want a new digital camera, since you are giving, I would like it shipped to me next day air. At your expense of course.

Wow Jerry! Thanks for the laugh - I really needed it this morning.
My co-worker and I (I had to show her your letter because I nearly fell off my seat and she had to come over to see if I was alright!) want to know if your daughter's golden goose and OOmpa Loompa were at least delivered on time?

I think everyone's focusing on just one part of the letter and missing the point. Clearly the biggest part of this childs Christmas was totally ruined and that's something that can never be made right. That moment has passed and will never come again.
Then, again, there's another facet to this story that's equally upsetting-
Imagine being a ten year old girl who wanted a Sony Bravia Flat Panel 70 inch HDTV for Christmas, and got it.
Reading this letter would make that girl feel SO guilty, and that's just wrong!

They could be better about providing you a realistic expectation of shipping time. I'm sure there is some processing time involved in the exchange. They should be able to give an estimated timeline and then notify you when it ships.
You should have stuck to just the facts of the complaint in your letter- which really seems to stem from their lack of communication with you.
Leave out the part about ruining Christmas- that is melodramatic. In fact, your daughter doesn't need to be mentioned at all - you purchased the item and it is irrelevant that it was for your child.

I think "ruined" is a little dramatic, however I do not think that shipping it next day air is unreasonable.

What kind of a child are you raising if not getting a TV on time ruined her Christmas? I would rethink my parenting methods if I were you.

It has to ship you nut case. You're not the only person returning something to the HSN. I'm positive you believe you are the only person on earth and at the front of the line to boot. But guess what? You aren't! Buy your daughter a coloring book. It uses her creativity. She's going to need it as she gets older and needs to figure out new and creative ways to explain your attitude to the world!
Peace!

Please click on my profile for the definition of "Ruined"
Did it occur to you that perhaps your child's perspective on this situation (that Christmas is RUINED without this expensive gift) is due in part to the fact that you park her in front of a large TV and ignore her?
Try giving her some love instead of expensive electronics and see what happens. Because the world really doesn't need to deal with the kind of adult she's going to turn into.

I understand that this is absolutely none of my business, and really has nothing to do with your complaint, but in the interest of helping, you might check out this link:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/07/050705005926.htm
The article at the other end of this link discusses the possible damage done when children are allowed to watch too much tv, particularly when said tv is in the child's room. Again, not trying to tell you how to raise your kids, just thought I'd give you a little FYI on how this issue may be a blessing in disguise. Good luck.

You bought a huge expensive TV screen for your kid? I presume to keep in her bedroom? Considering the level of spoiling and the lack of supervision that indicates, don't come whining at this site when you have a 15-year-old who's pregnant, stoned, and watching "Dancing with the Stars" reruns.

I wish I was a 10 year old. I'd get a 32" HD LCD TV.
And I could pout when it was broken because, even though I'm old enough to nned a freakin' 32" HD television, I'm not old enough to understand that things happen and I need to have p-a-t-i-e-n-c-e.
Oh, wait. It's not the 10 year old that's acting this way, is it?
Seriously, while they could do a better job of going realistic shipping estimates, this valid aspect of your complaint is going to get lost in how unreasonable a person you're coming off as.

The OP may need to allow processing time. Many companies that deal with huge numbers of shipments need time to process a return and arrange a replacement. This may not always happen the same day the return is received physically.
Christmas cannot be ruined because one present is in limbo. Unless, of course, the OP's family considers Christmas to be only about the presents.
