Take my new cartridge back

Here is the problem:
We recently located a NEW, Unopened Canon FX-3 cartridge (your item # 185685 at a current price online at $86.99), that we no longer need; as we no longer have the machine that used it. We simply found it while doing some cleaning of our storage cabinet. Unfortunately, we do not know when it was purchased and do not have a receipt; but since we no longer need it, we would like to be able to return it for STORE CREDIT.
I have tried to send my request for assistance to your website, but it hasn't gotten the results I had expected in that I received the SAME response TWICE, and it seemed automated at best, at worst; it seemed that nobody ACTUALLY READ my message.
I would like a message that I can print to take with me when I go to the store that would allow me to return this cartridge and receive a store credit.

It is not new! You found it with some other old crap while you were cleaning out your STORAGE cabinet.
return
verb (used with object)
to put, bring, take, give, or send back to the original place, position, etc.
Why should they take it back when you did not get it there???

The title reminds me of the old joke, "Take my wife... PLEASE!"

"Unfortunately, we do not know when it was purchased and do not have a receipt" So how do you know it isn't expired??? "but it hasn't gotten the results I had expected " The results you wanted were them telling you that you can return it for full credit.

While cleaning out my boys' closets, I found tons of clothes that they outgrew before they could wear them. They still have the tags on them. I have no proof of where they came from, but I think I might try returning them to Target...
...whadaya think, sound like a good idea?
Oh, wait, I decided to pass them on to someone who can use them more than I can.

You booted up your computer, loaded an operating system, browsed over to this site and wasted pixels composing this crap?
Yeah Right! Nice Try
It was probably "recently located" at a flea market or swap meet or Office Max

Ok #1- You admit you have no item as to when you purchased it.. therefore, it is most likely expired and dried up. How do you know you purchased it from this store if you have no receipt?? Sounds to me like your trying to rip off the company.

The nerve of those people!! You have no way to prove that you purchased the item from their store (notice I did not say, that you cannot prove it CAME from the store) and they are not giving you store credit?? I cannot believe that!! What a horrible business practice We should be able to take anything to any store w/o having to prove we paid for it, heck, why not just steal it and try to make a profit off it!

I work for OD. You say you know the controls they place on cartridges/toners which makes it difficult to steal them. They still get stolen.
As for getting a store credit all you need is an ID if you don't have a receipt. Of course, it's up to the manager.

Looks like you might get $20, $30 for it.

Why should they take it back? How do you know you bought it there? You need to find an organization that will accept it as a donation, or discard it. I don't blame any business for not taking it back. It may not even work properly now, depending on how long it was sitting in a storage cabinet.
