Is the refer a friend bonus a bogus promotion?

I recently established new service with T-mobile online; based on the fact that someone I am close to has been with them for quite some time and is very happy. I tried to reward the existing customer with their referral bonus, and did not find a place to enter this information during my ordering process. I emailed my concern and was told that I needed to go to the STORE where I activated service and request the referral bonus to be applied to my friend's account. Here is the problem: I DID NOT ACTIVATE MY SERVICE IN A RETAIL STORE. Is the referral bonus a bogus promotion?

Allow me to submit to you my friend's tmobile phone number and apply the $25 referral credit to her account. Also adjust your ordering process to allow this information to be entered before accepting the order.

My niece was referred by me and she filled out the paper work at a
retail store. It has been over 60 days (you have to wait 45 to make
sure the person stays with T-mobile)and I have seen nothing. When I
called customer service they tell me we need to go back to the store
where she purchased the phone as they cannot see this information on
line, but they can at store level. Doesn't make any sense to me as
they can view everything else on my account. Yes I think it is
BOGUS!!!!

Perhaps you could read the actual terms and conditions on their
website. If you go to tmobile.com/referral and sign in to the website
it gives you all the details, and even a card you can print and give
to your friend for when they activate. But it does clearly say that
the person you refer must activate in a t-mobile direct retail store
(direct store.. not some third party store) to get the bonus. It has
nothing to do with where you activate, it's all about where the other
person activates. I didn't have any problems with my bonuses, and
I've used the program several times over the years.

Would it be so difficult to go into a store and request the bonus
points? I'm assuming that these bonus points can be applied by an
employee at any T-mobile location.

Obviously the referral program is not a bonus promotion since there is
a methodology to utilizing it. It just isn't available online.

This letter is best served as a suggestion, leaving out the accusation
of deceit on the part of the company.
