"In no way do I blame Circuit City for this misinformation, in fact it appears it has happened several times in the past with other retailers dealing with Hitachi. That being said, I do put the onus on Circuit City to make things right."
Why? You admit the problem lies with Hitatchi so why would the "onus" be put on C.C.?
That's like blaming the salesman for not knowing the car he's selling you is a lemon. "Well, I know that the manufacturer has a history of problems with this car, but I blame the salesman 'cuz HE sold it to me."
I hate to say, if the whole 1080p was so important to you, why didn't YOU ask to see the manual or the packaging? Surely it needs to specify this somewhere with the tv. A big ticket purchase like this surely requires more research beyond what the associate told you.
You can point the finger of blame all you want. It's not their fault if they were told it was a 1080p and Hitatchi shipped them something different.

What is wrong with you people???? I don't need negative BS like this. Why would I belong to a website were everyone is cutting each other to nothing. There's way to much of this in the really world without looking for it!!!! Where's the compassion?

You may be out of gas here. Most ads whether on-line or in print have some kind of clause about being able to substitute the item for another if need be. They also ususally have something about errors and omissions.
Have you tried contacting Hitachi since you are aware that there are problems with ads that it puts out.

You bought a hd1080 product before, and what you purchased is a hd1080 D-I-S-P-L-A-Y, but in a different style case.
their website says, under Hitachi model P50S601,
Overview:
Hitachi Full HD1080 products are a perfect pixel-for-pixel match to the dominant high definition signal in the marketplace today. The P50S601 Ultravision® Plasma HDTV utilizes the Full HD1080 resolution standard (1920 x 1080) and has extremely sharp detail with over 2.1 million individual picture elements. Hitachi's patented ClearWindow™ design creates brighter images by eliminating any visible grid structure on the panel.
The PictureMaster™ HD IV video processor found in the P50S601 upgrades all incoming signal to match the Full HD1080 panel and ensures outstanding picture quality regardless of input type or resolution format.
The Highest quality connection with home A/V devices is delivered with 3-SimplayHD™ HDMI video inputs. These HDMI inputs are 1080p compatible and include high definition video and audio in a single cable connection.
Included with the P50S601 is a power swivel stand which allows users to use the remote control to swivel the TV 30 degrees either direction for optimum viewing in any part of a room. Another step-up feature is the addition of a unique black stripe screen filter which blocks ambient room light and allows the maximum brightness and clarity for any environment."
Your model has Three 1080p compatible connectors on the front:

Do some research before walking in the store. It'll save you from time, borrowing trucks, and paying a 15 percent restocking fee.
