Instore Pickup From Hell

Posted Mon March 10, 2008 3:17 pm, by Pete S. written to Best Buy

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

I bought a videocard from the bestbuy website. The price was listed on sale, and pickup was available at GENEVA, IL Bestbuy Store. When I picked at the store, they gave me the WRONG model, and they woundn't give another model.

I took the item home, and called 1-888-Bestbuy and they told to go to any bestbuy store and they will give you the right item.

When I went to Downers Grove, IL Bestbuy I tried to get the item I ordered on the website, and return the wrong item that was given to me in GENEVA Bestbuy. I returned there because it was stock there.

After 2-3 hours of talk to the some black girl at customer services, and then the Manager, and then the STORE SERVICES Manager. They ended up returning my item WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

THEY would not give my item back, or give me for the price I paid for. They were VERY RUDE, and threaten to BAN FROM THE STORE.

What kind of business you run here! What's the use of in-store pickup when people are this stupid, and mean to you. I'm taking all my big money purchases to Circuit City, or to someone who cares!!!!

Here's the order I mentioned!

Order - BBY01-247177102865

I WASTED SO MUCH TIME AND GAS AND I HAVE NO ITEM TO SHOW FOR IT! I WANTED THAT ITEM, AND FOR THE PRICE I PAID FOR!

Why your stores can bend and twist the rules however they please. This is wrong, I will complain to every state, government, or news media I can find.

Pay me back for all the gas I wasted, or fire the manager, or store service manager who was mean to me at the Downers Grove, IL Bestbuy.

I don't know if you know this or not, but with History calling an
Afican American person "girl" or "boy" is degrading. I am sure that
you meant no offence but for you to call an this black woman "girl" is
offensive.

In the past when there was slavery people used to refer to blacks as
"boy" or "girl" because they were not considered equal to whites.
Even children as young as nine or ten called adults by their first
name or even "boy" or "girl", while they called these children Mr. or
Mrs. by their last name.

I think you should rewrite this letter and change "some black girl" to
some dark skinned woman, that will be a whole less offensive.

As a person who works in customer service, yours is the type of letter
people I work with like to laugh at. Your facts are off and it's
poorly written.
Yelling in a letter gets you nowhere. Why is it necessary to mention
race? And demanding restitution from the store is just silly. Try
again when you settle down.

Any letter that demands the termination of an employee loses all
credibility in my book.

I always love when people say that they got or almost got kicked out
of a store for no reason. Stores are not stupid, they would not kick
someone out if they were trying to make a purchase. However, if the
customer posed a threat in any way then for the safety of the others
in the store they would kick someone out. I think that you aren't
telling the truth here because there has to be something missing.

Maybe they threatened to ban you from the store because you're the
customer from hell.

No wonder they wanted to ban you from the store.

This letter os very poorly written and will not result in a response.
You need some help with your sentence structure, as it appears English
is not your native language.

Also, calling the employees "stupid" isn't appropriate. I wonder what
names, after spending 2-3 hours of their time, the employees are
calling you.

I would re-write letter. Because best buy probably will laugh at
letter. If going to write letter make sure you actually use complete
sentences. Seriously, this letter is written horribly.

I lost any interest in your problem right there. Race is an
appropriate identifier sometimes, but more often than not, it's a way
for a white person to indicate that the person they're talking about
is not white.

It's an easy and stupid pattern (I'm in the Midwest, and it's done A
LOT here, maybe not so much in areas of the country where there's a
higher proportion of blacks). And it needs to stop.

I get tired of seeing these stupid letters that point out the race of
the CSR, as if it's implying that the problem lies there.

I don't think it's always that... by All About the Branding Mon March 10, 2008 @ 5:55 PM

2-3 hours and he didn't notice a name-tag?? by Steve-Oh Mon March 10, 2008 @ 8:23 PM

I agree with Branding, there must be more to this story. Why would
you accept the wrong item?

by All About the Branding Posted Mon March 10, 2008 @ 3:47 PM

There's HAS to be more to this story.

Quite simply, there is no reason for someone to take home an item they
didn't order. You simply say "this doesn't match the item I ordered."
If they don't have the correct item in stock, you refuse to accept
the item. Best Buy should refund your money, if you card was
charged.

But that's not the part that bothers me.

I cannot fathom how anyone in customer service, at a B&M store, would
EVER talk to someone for 2-3 hours. After 15 minutes, at most, you'd
think the manager would have been called. And a "black girl" at
that!

And, of course they're going to return the item. That's what you
wanted! If the item you DID want was in stock, why didn't you just go
and buy it?

Or was the problem that they didn't actually have it in stock?

I'm sorry, but if someone referred to one of my employees as "black
girl" and argued with her for 3 hours, I'd (a) give you your money
back and (b) ask you not to return.

No way it's worthwhile keeping someone like you a customer.

So, what's the rest of the story, huh?

"I will complain to every state, government, or news media I can
find."

There are 50 states. I doubt that the government of Namibia will care
about your problem.
