Planned Maintenance Before Tax Day, Chase?

I am a procrastinator and I lose things. So, I was very happy when Chase allowed me to just store my statements online for easy retrieval anytime.

My taxes are due on Tuesday. Did I mention I'm a procrastinator? I got up this morning, made an extra large pot of coffee, fired up the computer, and got ready to get started.

This is when I found out that Chase was down for systems maintenance. Planned maintenance.

How can you plan maintenance on the weekend before Tax Day?

Since you really want all your customers to have online statements to save your processing and mailing costs, you need to have the statements available on the one weekend it is most likely people will need access to them.

Adjust your maintenance schedules!

I'm a procrastinator as well, and I plan to get help. Tomorrow.

If it weren't for the last minute, a lot of things would never get
done. Good luck!

Kevin Wachovia had maintaince going on the entire day Sunday! I have
NEVER not been able to access by account online. STRANGE!

My taxes were done in Jan. so not an issue for me. But still sort of
odd I think.

that the concept of "planning" anything would be foreign to you,
Kevin, your inability to follow Chase's lead and take care of this
earlier than today is not their fault, nor their problem.

Welcome to the adult world, my friend.

I bank with Chase and I received a message from them via Chase.com at
least 10 days in advance warning us about this scheduled maintenance.
I deleted the message so I cannot repeat it verbatim -- but it went
along the lines of telling us what hours they would be performing
scheduled maintenance, please be sure to get any information for your
tax needs beforehand, etc.

It is unfortunate the way that their scheduled maintenace falls, but
it is necessary and they did warn users well in advance.

I agree with the maintenence coincidence being a hassle. I just love
the first sentence!

Kevin G.,

By the time you get around to reading these posts your ship probably
already sailed and the Chase system will be backup.

I feel your pain but I am also a big planner when it comes to
calculaating how much time I will need to get something done which
helps to reduce those suprises.

Got to get back to my taxes...Just kidding.

I did my taxes today. Most people wait, they should know better! I
hope they have it up again by tonight or tomorrow.

I'm split on this one. While I certainly agree that taking the site
down the weekend prior to the tax deadline was kind of dumb, wasn't
procrastinating kind of silly too? You point out at least a couple of
times that you are a procrastinator, so maybe it's time to change
that?

Many companies have scheduled maintenance days throughout the month.
Was this advertised anywhere on their site? The banking institutions
that I've always worked with actually have a message posted on their
site a week or so before the scheduled maintenance. That way their
customers are aware of the issue. I think I would have been more
upset if they didn't announce this ahead of time. Also, for how long
did Chase take the site down for? I can't imagine it was for more
than 2 or 3 hours. This would also help me form a more educated
opinion as to whether Chase was really in the wrong here.

While I agree that you are a procrastinator Chase should realize that
many people do wait until the last minute and change their maintenance
time and date.
Or...could be one of those government conspiracies...heh,heh,heh.
(only kidding!)
