Apple Betrayed iPhone Buyers

As one of the first people to buy Apple's iPhone on June 29th, I felt that I was robbed when the 4GB I bought for $500 was discontinued around September. Apple decides to give us $100 in store credit and now there is a 16GB iPhone out now that costs $500. I really think it was not fair to the consumer. I dropped my iPhone recently and slightly cracked the screen and I was told that it costs $200 to fix the screen when the price for my 4GB is just the same now to fix it.

For the people of Apple Inc. to find it in their hearts to give the early iPhone adopters fair compensation. I am and have always been buying Apple products and I wish to continue to do so.

LOL! You got fair compensation when Apple provided you $100 in
consideration. The only reason you got the compensation was because
Apple cares considerably about it's customer family. This is evident
in everything they do (have you been to an Apple Retail Store?). Name
one other company/retailer who would have done such a thing? Retail
prices are based upon a complex economic equation - founded in free
enterprise. Early adopters of any technology run the risk of losing
value/money from the outset. When is the last time you bought a
vehicle? As soon as you drive it off the lot, it has depreciated by at
least 10%. Quit crying and suck it up. And, next time, don't be so
eager as to be the first person on your block to have the latest
invention or gadget. The personal ego/self esteem boost you got was
worth more than the $200 bucks you whine about. By the way, the iPhone
rocks!

I'm surprised at people defending apple. They in full knowledge did
this to customers. However, I think at this point we should all
exercise our "capitalism" and make the companies beg us to spend
money... don't buy there products. These companies study human
behavior more than you know and exploit our weaknesses... that is
capitalism at it's worst.


Making customers angry is not going to keep a company in business. For
a while they will be ok by the sheer numbers but eventually they to
will be gone. Corp american should read a few history books. No one
is invincible.

You purchased the introductory version of this phone.
You received a $100 in-store credit.
You dropped the phone and cracked the screen.

You made all of your own decisions - - Apple did not betray you nor do
they owe you any compensation.

and risk it dropping over half a few months.

phone, they owe you nothing.

I bought an Ipod Nano right before they changed what they look like.
I'm not complaining. It was a risk I took buying it.

You weren't robbed - - you made a decision to purchase the
introductory version of a technology item that everyone knew would be
upgraded in the future. As such, you were not betrayed nor do you
deserve "fair compensation".

You obviously felt that your iPhone was worth what you paid for it in
the first place.

This is called marketing. The Apple company is out to make money, not
to give people cheap phones.

Sheesh... People complain about communism, but then whine about how
unfair capitialism is.

This was roundly discussed in early September of 2007. Many people
believed that the fact Apple apologized to its iPhone customers and
offered the credit was an unprecedented move that admitted a mistake
in sales forecasts had been made.

Some customers remained unconvinced and said the credit should have
been higher. If you had complained in September, it sounds like you
would have been in the latter group.

However, this is very old news, and there is no chance Apple will be
upping the ante now. It is too bad you broke it, but it sounds like
you can replace it for the same price of a new one. That is the price
of progress in technology. As soon as you buy something, the cost to
make it frequently goes down.

The first generation of anything electronic is usually short-lived.
This is why I never buy something until it's been on the market a
while.

And just wait ... the 3G (third generation) is coming out in June. If
you buy it and sign up for service through AT&T, they (AT&T) will
subsidize $200 of the cost which means you can get it for $199. It's
thinner then the original and has a GPS chip.
