I WENT DOWN TO GIANT CHEVROLET TO HAVE AN
OIL CHANGE & LUBE JOB AS I ALWAYS HAVE
DONE IN THE PAST.WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED
MY BILLING INVOICE.AND FOUND OUT THAT I
WAS OVER CHARGED.THE NEXT DAY I WENT DOWN
THERE AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE ADVISOR.
I SHOWED HIM THE MISTAKE,HE HAD TOLD ME
ON THE INVOICE WHERE IT SAYS 6 QUARTZ THAT
IT WAS JUST A NUMBER.BUT I WAS CHARGED FOR
THAT.MY CAR ONLY HOLDS 5 QUARTZ OF OIL.
I ASKED HIM WHAT DOES A QUART OF OIL COST
HE SAID ( A LOT ) I KNOW WHAT A QUART
COST.ALL HE DID WAS GIVE ME THE RUN A
ROUND.I WILL BE SURE TO TELL FRIENDS,
FAMILY ECT.DO NOT GET SERVICED THERE.
REIMBURSE ME:::::::::

I do the oil changes my self. Yes this is not realistic for everyone, but you can take measures by purchasing the oil and filter you prefer and hiring a mechanic to do it. For everyone wondering where I am coming from, years ago I worked for Sears. We had two bulk tanks of oil, one 10w30 and one 10w40. I watched the oil delivery guy top off one tank, turn and fill the other tank with the same hose. No valve selection hose selection, nothing. If you want to be sure do what I suggested before.

Not criticizing, just truly curious:
Am I the only person who pays attention to how much they are being charged BEFORE they sign the credit slip? And if it is something I purchase a lot and suddenly the price is higher than what I usually pay, am I the only one who says "Oh, it used to be $XX.XX - did the price go up?"
It seems like so many complaints here start with someone stating that they didn't look at the charge slip until they were away from the business and that has just never made sense to me.

Many vehicles don't take oil in whole quart amounts -- many are 5 3/8, 6 1/4, etc. If your vehicle needs 5 and 1/4 quarts, you're stuck paying for that sixth quart.
And perhaps it was synthetic blend, which costs substantially more. I use only synthetic or a blend, and my oil changes cost over $50.
