You know who is going to get this letter? The trash can. That is after
all where trash belongs.
If you continue to use language like bull and ahole, then you will not
get any response.

I predict that by Friday morning this letter is going to be posted in
Centurytel's call center(s) with a Post-It from management saying "See
how we're looking out for you?"

If you calm down and speak with them reasonably, you may be able to
change your due date for future billing cycles (though probably not
this one). Many companies that bill on a monthly basis will give you
an option of when your bill will be due (beginning, middle, end of the
month). They don't tend to advertise it, though; you have to ask.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Dirty mouthed old ladies never fail to amuse me.
Either pay for it or don't, there's no need to use that kind of
language.

Temple...yes they can charge you a deposit and you should be a bit
less agressive with the name calling.
You wanted to come back to their company.
But I can bet a million bucks that you told Centurytel that you could
get a better deal somewhere else which was why you cancelled them. So
when Broadside fell through with their promises you wanted Centurtel
to bend over backwards for you and take you back sans the deposit.
And then you call them nasty names to boot...let us know how this
works out for you.

to preface this, i work for a utility company.

THE MAJORITY OF UTILITY AND COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE PROVIDERS CHARGE A
SECURITY DEPOSIT FOR FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS REGARDLESS OF CREDIT.

this is INDUSTRY STANDARD. it is not personal, it is not to annoy you
and you only. the REASON is because customers lie, don't pay their
bills on time, and are incapable of following simple directions. i
talk to an average of ONE HUNDRED people per day, and a good 80-90% of
these customers are clueless, owing us money, and generally making
that security deposit look pretty reasonable.

as for the SSI and your due date, GET OVER IT. cycle billing (which
most phone/utility companies use) does NOT accomodate changing due
dates. you need to budget your money at the beginning of the month so
you can pay your freaking bill on time.

I see no problem with them asking for a deposit.

I cant get past the part about someone being a senior citizen and
having a MORTGAGE!!! If I were in your shoes, I would certaintly not
be paying for the extras with cable/internet.

where letters are replaced by symbols. (I once used the F-word, with
the last three letters replaced by stars, and had my letter pulled...
not because I called someone a, well, f-word, but because I used the
letter "F" followed by 3 stars).

Can you clarify the current policy regarding using partially
expurgated profanity?

A--hole is fine when referring to a company but not when referring to
another PFB member. So is damn and hell.

F*** is not ok in any circumstance...except when we're trying to
explain why its not allowed.
