I dont understand you people...why should I forgive this company when they have never issued an apology withour a caveat. All they had to do was say "hey our employee did something wrong and we are sorry."
I send them an annual reminder to give them an opportunity to get my business back and will continue to do so. Is that really so wrong?
the hostility some of replied with is mindboggling

This story seems so one-sided,and many details are left out. I am 90% sure you called her names first because she asked to check your reciept. No one would just call you names out of the blue unless there was some snide remark or rude comment made.At least she admitted to it. You sound frustrated in your letter that you had to show a reciept in the first place, so I am pretty sure you went off on her. In that case, you deserved to get rude treatment.

Instead of carrying 75 lbs. of product (and possibly injuring yourself) why in the world did you not get a shopping cart, or at payment request a carry-out. Common sense to me.

Sir, there are more important things in life than how you were treated at Best Buy. Really, there are. And if this is the worse thing that has ever happened to you - long enough to hold a 3 year grudge - then you, dear sir, have lead a charmed life.

good for you for standing ur ground. they never apologized or attempted to rectify the situation. let it be a lesson to treat people with respect, remeber the golden rule. in return u have examplified boycotting them which is exactly what i wouldve done if i were treated the same way.

Geezel! That was 3 years ago! Why didn't you complain then? Forget all about it. Go to your local theater and see the new Indiana Jones movie. You'll like it.

Oh my goodness, it has been 3 years! Give it up! Usually when one purchases that large of an item or items, you have it in a basket or you pull your vehicle to the service entrance where a best buy employee will help load it in. I purchased a heavy item, about 80lbs and was told to just pull around to the side (service entrance) and someone would have my item and load it in. I showed my receipt as I was leaving the store and drove to the service entrance for the purchase. Again, the guy loading it up, asked for a receipt-no big deal. I'm sure best buy has this policy in effect because of alot of theft. You really should just move on. Have a great day!

Hec, they probably didn't even visit it in the first place which is why they acted with "general disregard". Do you actually think they'll give a "crap" 3 years later??

Anyone with minimal intelligence would understand that when leaving a store with a bulky package, a store employee would challenge them to show proof of purchase. You know, with shoplifting and all. I would seem to me that is the alert employee's job.
How hard is it to put the package down, and give the employee the benefit of the doubt that maybe during purchase they were looking the other way instead of at one's self-important derriere?
This letter was hilarious. Approximately a year, four months and three weeks ago I read one that almost as funny.

You obviously were hiding something. Come on now. Either that or you just wanted the attention. Oh yeah, and this happened 3 years ago? Get over it already. Wait, get over yourself.

"and will continue to do so whenever presented with the opportunity"
Well I think there is something in the law about extortion.
I also love the whole concept that just because you tell someone Best Buy asked for a receiot as you left, you think they are going to avoid Best Buy. People make up their own mind.
You haven't been a Best Buy customer for 3 years and they are still in business. Evidently they don't need your money. I hope they ban you from all Best Buy stores because that is their right.

Note to self: If ever attempting to shoplift, refuse to show receipt at door and claim you can't because your hands are "full."

"I should also point out that I am not required by law to show a receipt and the law supersedes store policy."
You obviously have no legal experience, because this statement is ridiculous and false. Just because there is no law saying you MUST produce a receipt doesn't mean a store can't require it. And there certainly isn't a law prohibiting stores from requiring shoppers to produce them on demand.
Quite honestly, you had a valid complaint, but the near-histrionics detract so much from that complaint, nevermind that you're still dwelling on this THREE YEARS LATER.
Are you like this with everything that goes wrong in your life?

I'm curious what "countless people" have said about the fact that you're upset that you were asked to show your receipt 3 years ago, refused and are still griping about it. So what if your hands were full - - would it have killed you to put something down and comply with a simple request? And no - - it's not in BB's "best interest to revisit the situation and attempt to rectify it" as it's clear they don't care if you remain a customer or not. And I'll bet that you've been back and made additional purchases in the past 3 years.

So, after you went back into the store to report the employee for doing her job, did you show the manager the receipt? You did have one, didn't you? Can you provide your receipt now so Best Buy has some evidence that this actually took place, (approximately) three years ago? Not saying it will help your gimmee grab, but you never know.

1. You should have put the items down, or asked her to assist you, so you could show your receipt.
2. She never should have called you a name, but you shouldn't have ignored her request, then her demand for your receipt.
You're both guilty. Grow up.

decided to play power game with her, and she got frustrated. Just because she was 5 feet from you doesn't mean you had her undivided attention.
It may well be that legally you do not have to show your receipt, but they can request proof of purchase and detain you until you provide it. From the tone of your letter, I don't know how "polite" you would have been.
How did you want them to rectify this? Tell loss prevention that to just let customers walk out with merchandise if they don't want to show a receipt?
