Dear Nordstrom Stores:
About a week ago I applied for a Nordstrom Credit Card and was denied because of too many inquires. I spoke to a nice representative and asked for a reconsideration but was also denied.
As a college student, I'm proud that I am working on my credit this early and hope to see my credit experience and history grow. I'm starting to pay off all my credit card accounts to help my utilization. I am currently employed fulltime as an Engineer Sales Administrator with an annual income of $38500.00.
Now, I understand that I don't have a right to be granted credit by Nordstrom. Your company has its thought-out policies and enforces them. But I'm asking that you reconsider my application and start me out with the lowest amount possible Nordstrom deems appropriate.
As you can see in my credit report, I always pay on time and am never late. Also, my credit history is somewhat limited since I am a Junior in college, and can only have up to two years of history because of age requirements. But my two years have been nearly flawless in my estimation.
I pledge that I will be responsible to my account with Nordstrom like I am with my other accounts elsewhere.
I would venture to say, that were you to approve my reconsideration request, you will have a devout and loyal customer for years to come. I just want to get my foot in with a great company that takes customer service seriously and takes pride in the same. I would love to be issued a card even with a lower than normal credit limit. Let me show you that I'll be a good, no, GREAT customer.
Thank you.

You don't need credit cards at all. You don't even need a FICO score. You just need to live on what you earn. It's a radical concept I know!
You can still rent a car with a check car, don't believe that lie, Hertz and most of the major carriers accept them.
And yes, if you must you could still get a home loan without a fico score, you just get a loan that is manual underwritten, which is more accurate than a fico score.
All a fico score is a "I love debt" number. Some people swear by their "rewards". You never hear millionaires say they made it rich by their "rewards" If you play with the snakes, you will eventually get bit. Just read all the stories on here about good people that got bit by the snakes.
Good Day

Why do you want a store credit card so badly? Why not get a Visa or Master Card, and one that has cash rewards?
I am always surprised to see people say they pay their cards on time, but they are carrying a balance. I have never paid anything less than the balance, and always on time. Every single time for 20 years.
If you are only paying part of your bill, and in two years you have been "nearly flawless", you do not sound like a good credit risk. Your payments need to be the full balance and on time, or you don't need another credit card. They don't want your pledge, they want a good record.
