Out of stock sale items

I am annoyed at this point but getting to be very furious. This makes about the 3rd of 4th time that I've gone to our local store in reference to a sale and the item that I went for was 'out-of-stock'. I was at the store at opening because I was afraid that the item would be gone. I was correct, again the item was out of stock but if I'd like to look for a more expensive item, they were available. I'm begining that see this as a bait and switch. Two times this was for my company. I will now have to find another company with which to share my money.

Sell me the next level of the item at the sale price. I don't mean tons of money all I wanted was the Garmin 200 that was on sale as I'll need one in a week for a trip.

Ask for a rain check or take the ad to a competetor and see if they
will match it. I know both Best Buy and Circuit City have a wide
selection of GPS systems, and both stores frequently match prices for
me.

Why didn't you ask the manager if he'd do that for you?

I feel that after several ads that I attempted to purchase from and
the items were not in stock, but they did have a higher priced model,
gives me a feeling of bait and switch. Of course it could just be
very poor planning and merchandising and not bait and switch. With
gas the high price it is I hate to drive down for a purchase and go
home empty handed. I guess I could call but if the service is so bad
that you have to call on every sale item, switch to another company or
buy from the net.

That is a new definition of 'bait and switch' by Donno Mon July 28, 2008 @ 3:50 PM
