...Then I suggest that you try using it. It has a faster speed than dial-up or DSL (which the satellite/phone companies try to compare to cable, which isn't true). I have been very satisfied with it for the past six years, and still am. If you don't have Cox, then look up local area cable internet connections (at least through Google or ask.com.

I used to live in a rural area and had dial up. I remember many times getting frustrated over pages that would take forever to download. As was said below, the problem won't be solved until people stop signing up for it.
P.S. My old neighbor (I live in a city now with high speed internet!!!) called Embarq about getting DSL and they told him that he needed to get at least 50 signatures before they would come out. You need to check out that avenue.

I think the only way you are going to be happy is if you fork over $60 a month for satellite internet service. I understand your budget isn't unlimited, but look at this from the provider's viewpoint: people who demand better service should be willing to pay more. Thus I doubt they will make any improvements to dialup. I feel like a dinosaur using low speed DSL on many websites. I can't imagine using dialup.
It is a shame DSL isn't available for you, because it sounds like it would meet your needs. Even if a company would consider improvements, realize it may take a while for that to happen. I think you need a solution *now*.

Patricia, I think you will find the same issue with this as you did with your requests for high speed internet in your area.
Rural areas are slow, even on dial up. I honestly do not think AOL will be able to resolve this issue to your satisfaction.
I do wish you luck!

I have a friend who is very tech savvy, yet still connect to AOL via his Time Warmer access.
I asked him why once and he said he was just used to it.
The man carries at least three tech gadgets on his person at all times and works in IT, yet likes his AOL account.
Makes me giggle!

...is I know AOL has good parental controls. My parents had AOL until my dad died! No need for parental controls there! :)
