Burger King Needs To Close It's Doors

Posted Mon October 20, 2008 4:26 pm, by Bruce B. written to Burger King

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

Last night, October 19, 2008 I was at the Burger King at the Charlotte International Airport in Charlotte, NC. It was 8 PM.

My wife and I walked up, after a week out of the country, and craving a juicy, flame broiled burger...and order a #2 Whopper meal.

We were told..."we don't have any Whoppers."

Read that again...

We were told..."we don't have any Whoppers."

Burger King is THE HOME OF THE WHOPPER...and nobody is home?

I can see if it were 3 AM, or a holiday weekend, but it's 8PM on a Sunday evening, and "we don't have any Whoppers."?????

What ignorant MORON is in charge of that Burger King location where they "don't have any Whoppers????????????"

I have had some pretty crappy service/quality customer service at BK before, but not having their trademark burger at a MAJOR location is insane.

If I was that location's manager's regional manager, he'd be fired immediately. Send him to McDonalds...they are the KING of crappy fast food customer service.

How much of a complete phreeking MORON does it take to run out of your trademark item at a major location???????

SCREW BK from now on. They lost me as a customer.

WORSE YET...go to BK's website (what a sorry excuse for a business website) and there is absolutely, positively no place to email or make a complaint via on their website. That is indefensably braindead in 2008.

I am a Marketing Director, if I ran my business like they run theirs I would be out of a job in a phreeking heartbeat.

From now on, Sonic has my consumer dollar. B K can pound sand.

I will also pass this on to everyone I know.

Burn every location to the ground and get out of the business.

This is 5000,000 miles beyond braindead.

You saw my last consumer dollar.

Well, I will agree with you on this... Burger King is indeed home of
the Whopper, and how can they say they ran out of Whoppers?! Makes no
logical sense to me. And also, you got it correct when you said that
"McDonald's is the king of crappy fast food customer service". I've
also had nothing but crappy service over there as well, but that's
another story though.

Next time order the Bacon Double Cheeseburger.

That's what I always get, and I never get the urge to burn down the
restaurant afterwards.

Well, First of all what a PHREEK out.
You said this is a BK in an airport. These smaller chains inside other
establishments are not going to carry the full menu of a
"Free-Standing" store. The McD's in our Wal-Mart does not have the Big
Mac. Granted "The Home of the Whopper" should have some form of
whopper on hand. It could have been the result of any rare situation.
Then end of the day, on a SUNDAY (October 19). Deliveries would not be
made until Monday morning, Perhaps the specific sandwich you ordered
was not on the menu, (did you take a peek before you began your
tirad?) So they were out of the sandwich you wanted, go to plan B
whether it is another selection or another location further down the
street.

i once went to arby's and was told they were out of roast beef. you
could have knocked me over with a feather. i went to another arby's
across town, where--and i swear i am not making this up-- they, too,
were out of roast beef. i waited a half hour for them to get more. i
think it's indicitive of the current times. i just think things in
general are getting crappier. very few businesses seem to care about
or cater to the customer anymore. granted, the employees are underpaid
and i believe that if you pay your employees enough to care, they will
definitely do a better job. sorry for your experience.

I guess I'd be a tad disappointed as well, but fer cryin' out loud
man, tone it down a little, willya??

Your reaction here makes me wonder how you acted during the actual
situation. I hope it wasn't this strongly worded.

Good luck with the switch over to Sonic.

Oh, a ps: I love the way you're spelling phreeking. Mind if I use it?

My office is under the umbrella of marketing, and I think if my
Marketing Director acted this way I'd die of shame. Happily, she
apparently didn't sleep through the part of her marketing training
that taught her how to communicate effectively.

So does this mean if BK restaurants should start buring down they can
start their investigation with you?
I think we all know its an idle comment but you really need anger
control management. If you get this upset/angry over a burger what
happens when one of your staff makes a mistake, or worse yet one of
your family?

But I guess its better written like this than actually phyliscally
taking it out on someone.

From the OP's profile:

" I am a Marketing Director and teach and advise businesses on their
service/quality customer service. Customer service is 80% of every
business's success. I'm the guy who consults businesses in perfect
customer service to get brand loyalty and return business. "

So needless to say the letter could have far less of an assault and
*gasp* HELPFUL if he wanted it to be. Obviously, BK is not going to
burn any location or go out of business. That's just childish. I
really feel that if the OP posesses the skills to help a business to
succeed, he should have used those skills in writing his complaint.

A true "marketing director" would look to rectify this unfortunate
situation in a more professional manner. Possibly offering a solution
that does not include arson. I hope Sonic has fire insurance if they
run out of a menu item.

no place on their website for consumer feedback, either.... you have
to call them.

However, you really lost me when your letter turned insulting and
violent. It shows an incredible lack of maturity and intelligence when
someone resorts to insults. There are more educated and poignant ways
you can get your point across and still be forceful without hurling
insults.

My little boy loves BK and I hate it. It is usually cold, too much
mayo etc. But he loves a burger and being 5, he doesn't care about
temp or whatever, just that it is a meat patty on a bun.

Our Wendys is pretty good but I'm not a lover of fast food too much,
since school is back in session we haven't had any. I can wait until
next summer.

I wouldn't miss a BK if it disappeared myself.

I use the Charlotte airport often, both as a transfer point and as a
destination.

In the center of the airport, they have a food court that has several
choices, including Chinese, BBQ, Mrs. Fields, and a few other things.
I miss the Miami Subs that used to be there. They also have a few sit
down places, including Chili's and a Mexican place (owned by tequila
maker Jose Cuervo).

Closer to the gates, there are various other choices, including
sandwiches, fast food (I think Popeyes is there a couple times), and
sit down places. There's also an area that has a wine bar. Earlier
in the year, I noticed that they were building a mini-food court at
the end of one of the terminals.

Someone else that's been there recently may have more updated
information on what's current open.

I still wouldn't consider the Charlotte Airport a major location for a

My opinion by Nate. Tue October 21, 2008 @ 8:07 PM

by MA Cunningham Posted Tue October 21, 2008 @ 8:22 AM

My! Aren't we just a ray of FREAKING sunshine!

First of all, stuff happens. Supply orders get messed up, vendors
don't deliver on time. It's odd, to be sure, but it does happen. If
it was such a big deal, get 2 Whopper Jr's - problem solved!

Secondly, you're a marketing director and you behave this
unrofessionally? I would think someone in your position would have
the sense and the dignity to understand that this is NOT the way to
remedy the situation.

But for you to go off on this ridiculous tantrum over a Whopper?
Perhaps they did you a favor. It sounds like you should really
consider cutting back on red meat.

I went to our local BK recently and upon placing my order was informed
that they did not have any buns for any burgers of any kind, but that
I could order chicken fries and french fries. I haven't been back.

Wow....just wow...
Why couldn't you just get 2 Whopper Jr's and call it a day. It would
still taste the same, flamebroiled is still flamebroiled, no matter
what the size.

by SuzieCat Posted Mon October 20, 2008 @ 8:53 PM

Ummmm....I might not be the popular opinion here....but AGREE with
the Op. How in the world can BK run out of Whopper patties?

lets see:
-freezer went on the fritz and they lost a few boxes
-delivery shorted
-lots of flights delayed/canceled, so more people than forcasted ate
(OP mentioned this is a airport location)
-many more reasons

However, cant they borrow from another store? it has been ages since
i was married, but my ex hubby was in fast food. There were 3-4
stores who borrowed from each other when odd things happened.

From what I recall, BK uses frozen meat, so it seems odd they would
run out, and even more odd they would not borrow.

Just sayin.

It always blows my mind that people can wish an entire company go out
