I am writing to you because I think you should be made aware of a growing problem with Dell Televisions. I purchased a 32" Dell brand LCD television model number (W3201C) from Dell in November of 2005. Fast forward approximately three (3) years into the future (not even). On July 17, 2008, my Dell television began to make noises from the right speaker, like a buzzing sound. The noise from the speaker was cracking and fading in and out. I thought it was the channels. I changed the channel but it did not work. I even restored the setting and that did not work. There was something internally that was not working because I also swapped speaker sides. Still did not work. So I finally disconnected the speaker and I only have one side. This is like a joke, I paid good money and I get this!!!! I went online searching for an answer, I found the Dell forum site: (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hmtheatre&thread.id=3961) and I saw that this is a wide spread problem. This is not only my problem but the problem of MANY others (follow the link). (On the Dell forum site you can see that for yourself). I mean it's not only the 32" televisions it's all types of Dell televisions. My television is out of warranty but that should not matter because this is a Manufactures Design fault. The televisions have a faulty sound board or something. I think Dell should recall these televisions and repair them. We have all paid good money for these televisions and they are breaking down within two or three years. I expected this television to last at least 10 years. As my Dell laptop is already five (5) years old and still in perfect working order. I have a Dell 20" widescreen monitor (2 years old) and it's in perfect working condition. I am appealing to your sense of integrity and honor because I know Dell makes good products. I have many Dell products in my home and at work. I also have a Dell financial services account. have tried to contact you (Dell) by phone but with hold times of more than 10 minutes, come on. I also tried to email Dell but there is not anything online concerning Dell televisions and out of service products. I think we all have been ripped off.
I would like is my television to be repaired or replaced with the same type of unit (not Dell because you do not make them) (FOR FREE or at least a minimal charge of $50.00). If this cannot happen I think Dell should give its consumers and me a coupon to purchase a new TV on Dell.com for the price that is listed on your website. We all paid for high quality products, Dell did not produce that. Dell was built on its' reputation of being the best in the industry and this is a sad day when I can not get something so simple resolved. I think that this is more than fair.

I had the very same thing happen to my Dell TV, rhe static grew more two years into having it, until I couldn't hear anything but annoying static, no matter how loud I raised the volume. It has been sitting in a corner now for two years I've asked around to see if someone can repair it, but nobody wants to deal with Dell LCD TV's. Shame on DELL for making crappy TV's, they should've just sticked to computers.

Dell Model W3201C LCD TV, Express Service Code 21126201229
I have just had the same problem. My first Dell Model W3201C LCD TV
screen failed under warranty about 2 years ago and Dell replaced it
completely. Now out of warranty, the sound on my W3201C LCD TV
screen has just stopped working during August 2010 after I used it
about two years. I have called Dell and they have so far offered me
no assistance whatsoever. Some Dell representative with an accent
wanted me to pay $60 for Dell to diagnose the W3201C LCD TV problem..
I advised the Dell rep. "no way" as I had already diagnosed the
problem... My Dell Model W3201C LCD TV sound board stopped working...I
didn't need to pay Dell again for what I already knew. VERY
frustrating ! Just before my W3201C LCD TV sound failed, I was
planning to buy a new Dell PC... with this kind of terrible product
quality, I am having second thoughts. -Bob at r.obst@att.net

I totally agree with all of you...I too received a replacement lcd tv, which is the one shipped from another country. The speakers went out after two years, bought a surround system to get sound back. now, after three years, I have no picture!!!! I will never deal with Dell again. They obviously sold a faulty tv, and do not even care to right the wrong. Customer satisfaction is not their priorty when there are defects in their products.

I too have the same dell flat panel. Unfortunatley, I am on my second 32 inch with sound problems. I contacted Dell the first time and received a replacement. I contacted Dell on the second one and was told that since it was shipped from outside the country, they could not cover the warranty. After much time on the phone and speaking with several "techs" with very thick accents, I was transeferred to the sales department where I "the idiot", purchased another tv from them. NOT A DELL!
This gets even better! It never arrived. When I saw that I had been charged, I called to find out what was going on. "Oh, that order was returned because our shipper could not deliver or find your address". They wanted to know if I wanted to resubmit my order and I told them to shove it! I have been a loyal Dell customer for several years now and am finally fed up with the "charges to fix", the "inability to speak to someone I can understand" and the poor quality of customer service and products!!!!. I am now a proud owner of an new HP and will pay cash for a new TV, but not from them!!!!!

The sound goes out on these TV's after about 2 years. Dell is aware of the issue. They are working hard to ignore it. They no longer sell/support (Dell)TV's. They will offer to remedy the problem by selling you another (repaired?)TV for only 20% more than the price of a new one. I have called several times and sent several emails to customer (non)service. I sent an email to MD and finally got a response ( a flunkie sent a link to a repair place, they would not touch it). I think maybe it's time MD should get another email, or 2 or 3 or ?... Sounds like you blew a speaker from turning it up too loud. Did you buy the warranty?
Good Day
