Completely Ignored by Nordstrom Beauty Department

I went to the Pentagon city location to buy facial cream. I usually shop online, but figured I had time so I would go to the store myself. When I arrived I looked for the Mario Badescu section. There were employees just standing around having personal conversations paying no attention. Some of the employees saw me looking around, but said nothing An employee even turned the other way as I walked toward her to ask a question. Once I did find someone to help me find the cream, she just walked away.

Having worked in a department store as a teen, I know an employee should ask the customer if they need help with anything else. I had to search for another employee to help me at a different counter and she even walked away before I could make my puchase. I think employees should pay more attention to customers instead of their own little conversations during work hours. I was ignored completely. The sad thing is there were customer that came in after me who received service promptly.

Talk to their employees about the art of customer service for all customers.

Yikes...! Sounds like a "What Not To Do" section of a training video.
I hope the manager responds to this, and cuts down on the amount of
socialization going on.

Wow, that's terrible. I have also had some bad luck at Nordstrom's
cosmetic counter. Not really so much bad luck as despicable
treatment. I used to have severe cystic acne and I was following a
friend's advice on getting some high-end foundation to help me feel
better about myself. When I went to talk to the saleswoman about what
might be the best option, she told me that there was nothing they
carried that could cover up my "problem." I left in tears and felt
like even more of a mutant. :/ I will never shop there again.

This should not have happened to you, especially in a store like
Nordstrom that is supposed to be of a higher caliber. You should have
been greeted promptly and guided to the counter you needed.

I agree with Bill's comments. I've been treated very poorly at the
make-up counter. I've chewed out one of them -- she was a complete
biotch. Why on earth do people who so obviously dislike a big portion
of the general public choose to work in fields that require constant
interaction with them?

T.P.,

This sort of behavior used to happen when I would saunter into the
local Bentley Dealer.

Seriously though and not trying to be blunt. Sales folks in stores
that think they are upper tier do like the Law used to do on
Interstate 95 In Florida. They "profile" their customers or in retail
parlay they "pre-qualify" the candidiate by giving them the once over.

Right or wrong sales people are focsuing on the customers with the
most potential of being a buyer versus a shopper.

I understand your point, so I should wear a ball gown and glass
slippers. I should wear luxury car keys around my neck and not be
hispanic or black. Check and check thanks.
