I purchased a George Foreman Grill for $39 on 1/17/2009. We didn't open it to use until tonight 1/28/09--it was missing the drip tray and spatula. I went to Walmart (Lake Conroe TX) to exchange it. I was informed that I had bought it on sale and would have to pay another $11.83 for the same grill--mine was unusable without the drip tray. I refused and got a refund for the orginal price. IF this is your policy--NO more shopping at Walmart--first you sell me an incomplete product-then when I try to exchange it-you want to charge me MORE MONEY????? WHAT if this had been a birthday or Christmas present I had given--you would CHARGE THE PERSON I GAVE IT TO MORE MONEY?????
I would like to recieve a COMPLETE George Foreman Grill for the price I paid for the orgainal!!

Did Wal-Mart sell it to you knowing that it was missing items? Doubtful. Chances are they got it from their supplier like that.
As for them not taking it back, how do they know that you didn't just take the items and bring it back claiming they were missing? Not saying you did, they are just covering their own butts. I get it.

They never purposely sold you an incomplete product.
I learned over the years - especially after the holidays - to open all boxes and make sure all pieces and items are enclosed before purchasing it.
Should you have to do this - no. But is it a good idea - yes. Employees cannot go around making sure all pieces and items are in their appropriate boxes. Customers are always switching things up.
I imagine someone else opened the box the grill came in because the one they had did not have the spatula or drip tray. Its like a domino effect.

You can use it without the drip tray, I cannot find mine sometimes and have to improvise. I have never used the spatula.
I agree with one response, it sounds like you bought one that had been returned, and didnt check to make sure everything was in the package, it can work without it, just a bit annoying.
Good Day

It sounds like they are forcing you to return it first, and then buy a new one at the current price. I don't understand why they can't just exchange it if it was incomplete (and not sold that way on purpose).

At Target. It's not common, but ocassionally I come across one. I almost bought a pair of winter boots that were marked "AS IS" in the shoe dept and were a ridiculously low price for it being the beginning of snow season. They weren't worn and seemed in good shape. Good thing I tried them on first though because the fit was horrible.
That's why they were marked "as is."
