Asbury Park Press Delivered Damaged Sunday Comics

My father has called and complained numerous times in the past over delivery problems with the paper. In the past it was due to the paper being thrown in the driveway rather than placed in the box. He has changed our subscription from daily to weekend only and have canceled before in his frustration with your service.

Today's delivery has taken the cake though. I'm not one who would attribute to maliciousness something that could be an accident but I don't see how the condition of the comics section would be an accident.

I understand that paper can tear but today the comics section had a thumb size hole torn in it through the fold.

I can understand somehow a finger might make it through one sheet of paper but this was through all the pages, cleanly and nothing was hanging off. I don't see how that could be an accident.

If the comics was damaged when they went to put it in our edition they should have set it aside and asked for a replacement copy. If they accidently tore it they should have taped it together.

Because of the damage it is impossible to fully enjoy Grand Avenue, Hi & Lois, Hagar the Horrible and Beakman & Jax

I want a replacement copy of the Sunday Comics delivered to my door by Tuesday.

I think that you are undoubtedly owed a replacement copy. When you
subscribed, you expected an intact newspaper, and that is not what you
received, hence your dissatisfaction. You may want to try calling
their circulation department as well. Our local paper will send out a
driver with a replacement by the end of the day if we have damage.

If it's any consolation, the damage was likely done by the presses or
other machinery at the printing location.

Did your dad telephone the newspaper to report the damage? Our local
paper will re-deliver if we call before they close on Sunday.

You can also go online to read these comics. You'll probably have to
wait until it's actually Sunday to do so, but at least you can do
that. I know it's not the same. I wouldn't want to read the entire
comics section, but 4 might be do-able.

Would YOU check each and every section of EVERY Sunday paper you delivered? by olie Sun February 8, 2009 @ 10:06 PM

I didn't know anybody actually enjoyed Grand Avenue, Hi & Lois, Hagar
the Horrible and Beakman & Jax. Just pick up a paper from 20 years
ago and read that comic section--it'll be pretty much the same as what
was in today's issue.
