What is it going to take to get my order correct?

Posted Fri February 13, 2009 9:30 pm, by Carissa D H. written to McDonald's

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

My husband and I go to McDonald's several times a week. In the past 2.5 years I have lived here, they have NEVER, and I repeat NEVER gotten ONE single order correct. And it does not matter WHAT we order.

I have complained until I am blue in the face. They have even offered free food vouchers twice to be mailed to me, and I have never gotten a single one.
I received a letter of apology, but this does not fix the situation.

Apologies is NOT enough at this point. Even going back to get my order corrected, they mess it up again! What is so hard about it? I mean come on!
And the managers always give a very lousy excuse as to why the food is messed up. STOP THIS!

They do not repeat orders because they have that speaker box that is supposed to tell you what you have ordered. But it is never working and when you ask them to repeat your order they get upset and treat you badly. Even the management. I feel they need to go back to repeating orders.

But this still isn't going to fix all the errors. Even when we ask them to repeat the order they still grab the wrong food from the bin.
Any normal person would have stopped visiting this fast food restaurant. I have slowed my business way back, and probably will stop going all together.

Most people I speak with have had similar problems.
There is NO customer service anymore, this just does not exist.

I do not know what its going to take to appease me at this point. There has been NO effort yet from any manager or corporate to fix or appease me for all the mistakes every single visit.

Either stop using the drive through, or check the bag before you pull
away from the window.
Remember, it IS McDonald's. They actually count on a high turnover
rate to keep their payroll budget low, so your customer service
experience will only be so good.
Otherwise, try somewhere else for a change. It will be healthier
anyway. I only eat there once in a blue moon. The food is terrible for
you.
Best regards!

It's Not Burger King, you can't have it the way you want it.

Next time, go in. It is hard sometimes to check to see if everything
is in the bags, I have come across where I thought I had checked it,
and got home and was missing fries. I know mistakes happen, and it
sounds like this McDonalds though has a LOT of people working there
that either don't know what they are doing or think it is amusing to
screw people's orders up. Skip the drive thru at this restaurant, as
convienent as it might be if you must HAVE to go to this one so you
can watch them put together your order and make sure you have
everything before you leave.

I think this letter shows how terrible the economy is right
now.Usually, we get people just trying to get gift cards or
discounts, but now we have people trying to get jobs.

Here's some advice. Try APPLYING.

Why do you keep going back?

Seriously.... if they *constantly* screw up your order... and you keep
going back... they are NOT going to care if you're upset, because they
know you'll keep giving them money anyway.

In fact, to eat there several (yikes!) times a week is bound to be
costing you 20-30 dollars a week, if not more.

For that amount of money, you can buy a family pack of ground beef,
separate it into 1/4 pound patties, store them in the freezer and have
burgers any time you want!

And if you're in a hurry... just cook one up ahead of time and
brown-bag it. You'll have a better tasting burger made the way you
like it.

It's gotta be better than forking over money constantly to someone who
doesn't give a crap if they do a good job or not!

Have you tried doing a google search for McDonald's and mystery
shopping to find the company that does the mystery shops for
McDonald's?

I echo what others have said. If the orders are not right, either go
inside or stop going at all.

that the service sounds to be beyond pathetic, this has to be the most
creative request for a job I've ever seen!

Are you going to the same place every time? Try a different location
and see what happens. McDonalds is like Walmart....one on every
corner!

Then...what does that make you?

I'm just curious.

"Any normal person would have stopped visiting this fast food
restaurant."

Those are your own words, Carissa D H., yet you admit that you and
your husband go to McDonald's several times a week and you only plan
to "slow" your business back and are might be considering stopping all
together? What does that say about you and how "normal" you rate
yourself?

Carissa, do you really think McDonald's is going to take you seriously
if you have not stopped giving it your business despite the restuarant
"NEVER, and I repeat NEVER (getting) ONE single order correct"in over
two years? I somehow do not think so.

Wrong orders are frustrating and a sign of a poorly run business, yet
if you continue to go there, the restaurant gets the message that it
really doesn't matter how much its employees screw up as the profits
will continue to come in.

If it's really that bad, why do you keep going back?

I had the same problem with Taco Bell. Every time we went through the
drive-thru, they got our order wrong. It got to a point where my
husband and I would make a bet on what they would screw up. The
"loser" had to pay for the meal.

To answer everyone's question on why we kept going there, the reason
is because it was the closest Taco Bell to our house. The next one was
about 10+ miles away compared to the 2 miles this location was at. We
were willing to trade accuracy for convenience.

Finally, we stopped using the drive-thru and went inside to place our
orders. Guess what happened. They came out correct! Now, when we do
eat Taco Bell, which isn't too often anymore, we don't bother with the
drive-thru.

I don't know why the OP's orders are always incorrect just like I
don't know why Taco Bell always got ours messed up (I have a theory on
that), but it is still a valid complaint. I don't expect much from
fast food, but one thing I do expect is to get what I asked and paid
for.

Carissa, I'd suggest next time you place your order inside and see if
that helps the accuracy issue. Other than that, even though you have
valid complaints, you may have to write this location off.

Either this McDonald's is really lousy, or your orders are really
complicated.

Choose a different location or different restaurant.
Its your own fault if they have screwed you over multiple times per
week for years.

I don't know why you complain when you keep going back.

Stop going there.

If they mess up "every single time", why do you return?

You obviously go there expecting to be disappointed, so when you are,
you get angrier. Why put yourself through that?

Why should they stop, you keep coming back, too often.

Well, I see one very big issue. You have been going to McDonald's
several times a week for 2-1/2 years and never been served an order
correctly.

Let's say conservatively that "several" means three (3). That would
be approximately 3 x 52 x 2.5 = 390 visits, and the staff made
"mistakes every single visit."

The writing has been on the wall for a long time now - give up and go
somewhere else. This is like some kind of sadomasochistic Fear and
Loathing in McDonald's at this point.

I see that Olie and I have the same idea of "several" by Donno Fri February 13, 2009 @ 11:17 PM

What's their incentive? They mess up your order almost 400 times(2.5
years x 52 weeks/year x 3 times/week) and you keep going back.

I also visit McDonald's DTs, um, too frequently. I make a point of
looking in the bag. I've even been bold enough to take out the fries
and tell them that it's a skimpy order. (I know that McD's employees
are supposed to go "by weight and not by volume", but if they can't
make it LOOK like a full order of fries, they need to fix it.)

IF you decide to go back, you may want to go inside. That way, you
can watch the order as it's bagged, and you can correct it right away.
