Hello,
I'm in the process of being fired because my company says it obtain my cell phone tower records on the day in question and that they say I couldn't have been where I said I was because they got a copy of my cell tower record and I would have to be driving 200 mph to have reached my destination when I said I did. They said they got the information from the web but I've not been able to find it myself. They will not give me a copy of the record they say they have, but I've done my own searching in mean time. What I found is the area that I traveled has no Verizon towers close by for maybe 60 miles or more. I'm out of a job and I don't know what to do. How can I prove I was where I was when I said? I don't know where to start. Is there a tower specialist that can help me prove my case? Please HELP!!!

UPDATE:
I have spoken to Verizon, they will not release the Tower records with out a supeana. So off to the Lawyer I go. The reason it's so important is, I've been charged with faultsifying a goverment Log. When I do get the tower logs, which I will, I'll need someone who is a specialist on tower tracking to prove my location. Like I said I was where I said I was when I said I was there. This is a rual area with lots of dead zones.
I just want to clear my name. This is my career of 30 years. I've lost everything I've work so hard for. This is a goverment witch hunt.
Thanks for all your comments and support.
After I clear my name, I'll decide what to do next.

If its a company phone then its their property and they can do whatever they choose regarding keeping tract of it.
I may be wrong but don't cell phone companies bounce their signals off available towers even if its not their own (with permission of course from the company that owns the tower)? So why wouldn't Verizon be able to do this?

but realistically, if your company would go to this great a length to create problems for you, I don't know that it's a company I'd want to work for anyhow!
Is there something in your work handbook about documentation or being expected to prove your whereabouts at any given time?
It just seems unnecessarily punitive and underhanded to me. Why even both having employees if you trust them so little?

I don't know if Verizon will help...but I would call Verizon directly.
I'm assuming this is a phone provided by your job?

This must be a work phone, I am guessing. A third party normally just can't get your cell phone records.
You may have no option of fighting this other than hiring a lawyer. I am not sure VZ will get back to you and detail exactly what towers would say you were where the company says you were.
What kind of company do you work for?

If you work for a delivery company they use this form of tracking because it is just as easy to deliver your stuff and go to the bar or shop then it is to do what you're supposed to do and go back to the warehouse.

Are you referring to one of those company-owned phones where they have tracking enabled?
I'm assuming you're not referring to a personal phone since no company (unless you're working for a government "alphabet" company) has the right to access your cell phone data like that.
i'll assume that you didn't go to that area and that the phone itself didn't go there either...
so, if they won't show you the data, you may want to see if the phone provider itself will give you a copy... they might not, however since your employer owns the account.
so you might also want to consider contacting a lawyer to at least discuss your options and what you can and can't have done
