Good Evening,
Tonight my wife and I drove out to your Folsom store to pick up a vanity cabinet that we had found there a couple days ago. We had checked to see if it could be sent to the Roseville store, but it could not be done, which is fine and I was willing to drive back out tonight to pick up the product. (We live in Rocklin).
After driving out there, we were able to find someone to help us load it on a cart (I am not able to lift anything heavy do to my back) which I am sorry I did not get the gentleman's name, but he was a nicer older guy. From there it just went down hill, FAST.
Let me fill you in. We are in the middle of a remodel on our bathroom, and I am putting in a custom shower. So we decided to go look at the tile section, thinking that maybe Folsom would have some other options available apposed to the Roseville store. After finding an excellent deal on some clearance tile, we had decided to go ahead and buy this at the same time... (keep in mind I said the whole shower walls and pan... approx $500 in addition to the vanity, WOULD have been spent tonight). The time was about 9:20pm so yes late, but still well within store hours!
You must have gotten a truck in because there were lots of employee's. HOWEVER, NONE of these employee's even attempted to ask us if we needed help. And when I went up to one of the guys that was STANDING there, and I acknowledge that I knew he looked busy, but could I disturb him for a moment of his time to assist us. We were informed to just go find someone to help us at one of the desk's. OK, FINE. Maybe he was a little short but I went in search of a helper at a DESK.
I searched the whole back of the store and after no luck what so ever, we decided that Lowe's must not want our business bad enough to staff quality people to help us out towards the later operating hours of the day. So we take our $430 Vanity up to the register to check out. After being told that we could not be helped by the two girls talking, which I am going to give the benefit of the doubt, a subject that concerned work, we found someone in the SELF check out area. So, after being told that our total was way to expensive for what we were getting, the wait began for some to help assist us to load the vanity. (which was not that bad considering).
All things considered, I would say that this was a piss poor experience for a Tuesday night run after work to a Lowe's that is in a city which I do not reside in! If I can a vanity that will fit my needs and has the look that we like. I will also be returning that vanity.
The funny thing about this whole situation is that I had returned the vessel sink and the faucet that I purchased from Home Depot the day before!
With all of this said. I had LOVED Lowe's; My brother worked at the Lincoln location (which I have no complaints at all with the Lincoln store. And they are the slow after everyone has Foreclosed on there home in Lincoln. My brother has since moved to Georgia were I obviously can not go to. So since I have no more ties to the California stores, my wife and I and who ever else reads this after I repost this all over the internet on different blogs and feedback sites, will no longer be shopping at Lowe's. Which is said to say, because I hate Home Depot, but would rather shop there and spend my money at your competitors store, because at least the give some effort to there customers. And that is who pays for all of your paychecks, us the customers, whom your employee's neglected.
This will show up on numerous other sites also, so do what you may to rectify the situation with me but it will not stop this letter.
I do thank you for your time, that is if this is even going to be read this far. And by the way that I was treated tonight at you location which I drove out of my way to go to, this will go unread, and fester in the dumpster file, where is how after tonight I feel that my family and our money were put.
Thanks again for your time, and good luck with improving the customer service issue's. I hope to one day return as a Lowe's customer. Do keep in mind that for "Store City" I put both, Roseville and Folsom. My wife, when she has gone to the Roseville store alone, has never been treated with respect. But, that is not what has prompted me to write this letter, so I will not go into that other than what I have just written here.
Remember, it takes 10 people saying good things to affect one person, but it only takes one person saying something bad to affect those 10 people.
Sincerely,
The guy spreading the word.
Fix the problem. Fire, Hire, train, retrain, try to gain back my business, and apologize to my wife.

I didn't understand what was going on with the vanity either. It sounded like the employees were all telling him he paid too much for it. It seems odd that employees would discuss such a thing with a customer.

It sounds like maybe you had a "piss poor" attitude, to use your words. After the great experience with the older guy, which should have left you in a good mood, you approach:
"one of the guys that was STANDING there, and I acknowledge that I knew he looked busy, but could I disturb him for a moment"
Then, you gave up looking for someone else to abuse, and left the store. You never stated what help you needed with the tile, or that you persevered and asked another of the many people standing around for help.
Home centers cater mostly to the do it yourselfer, who usually loads his own cart. If your back is impaired, it may pay to use a little more patience in finding the person who will assist you. He's probably around, like that older guy who helped you with the vanity.
I find Lowes far superior in most departments to Home Depot, but good luck.
