The policy is fairly well detailed here:

you could buy a new dress and never wear it...
and then bring it back to the store a year later, see that it's on clearance for half the price and then demand they refund you the difference.
obviously you can't do that either.

all that? In my mind, it just seems immature. There is really no actual REASON to refuse to give back the item after it was returned. Other than to "one up" the customer. Which just gives you an angry customer for no reason. I myself have never done the take back and repurchase thing...mostly because I'm disorganized and lose all my receipts. It would just seem to me that the store should allow price adjustments for as long as their return policy is because in the end, it is all the same. And since it's all the same, why not make your customers feel special? In the end, you aren't really doing anything "extra" for them but making them feel like you are. Sounds like a winning corporate policy to me.

If you bring it back in new condition, you bought it a month ago and you have a receipt, will they let you return it?

This is a great example of a robotic clerk who beats the customer over the head with a "rule" even though it's perfectly clear your request fell within their guidelines.
Here's hoping you get a successful resolution.
And thanks for using PlanetFeedback.

I think your request was tacky.

As long as this item was still on the shelf, all you had to do was return the three boxes without saying anything, pick up three more and pay for them. I don't think anyone can stop you from doing that.
