Good afternoon,

I went into your store in Princeton, New Jersey today with my receipt and my 3 boxes of do-it-yourself wedding invitations. I purchased them a month ago for $29.99 per box. They are currently advertised at $19.99 per box, and with the economy the way it is, the $30.00 savings certainly would help. I asked the clerk to please return then re-ring the items for me so that I could receive the sale price. I was told that "price adjustments are only done within 7 days of the purchase". I think this is absolutely ridiculous. I asked to return and then re-buy the item!

I would really appreciate a credit to my credit card of the difference. When I questioned the clerk she said there would be no exceptions and I don't understand why this would be an issue. Thanks for understanding.

clearance for half the price and then demand they refund you the

all that? In my mind, it just seems immature. There is really no
actual REASON to refuse to give back the item after it was returned.
Other than to "one up" the customer. Which just gives you an angry
customer for no reason. I myself have never done the take back and
repurchase thing...mostly because I'm disorganized and lose all my
receipts. It would just seem to me that the store should allow price
adjustments for as long as their return policy is because in the end,
it is all the same. And since it's all the same, why not make your
customers feel special? In the end, you aren't really doing anything
"extra" for them but making them feel like you are. Sounds like a
winning corporate policy to me.

Honestly, as long as you have the receipt and are still within the
return window, I would go back and simply return the invites. Since
you are outside of the 7 day price match window, of course they are
not going to willingly give you the lower price. Sometimes it pays to
only give information out on a need to know basis. The clerk didn't
need to know that you would be turning around and repurchasing the
items again.

This is a great example of a robotic clerk who beats the customer over
the head with a "rule" even though it's perfectly clear your request
fell within their guidelines.

As long as this item was still on the shelf, all you had to do was
return the three boxes without saying anything, pick up three more and
pay for them. I don't think anyone can stop you from doing that.

The policy is no price adjustments after 7 days. It applies to you,
too. She said no exceptions.

Even though you wanted it rung up a differently as a way to be clever
and beat the system, you were still requesting a price adjustment.
Returning and then re-ringing the item as a purchase will yield the
same result. Trust me, you are not the only person to try and pull
that one.

You are entitled to nothing.

They have a policy, and the store follows it.

Where does one draw the line? They have a clear policy, and they
enforced it. I don't see why you are owed anything.
