If you truly feel you where treated badly then go to that particular store and talk to the manager. He/She can't correct bad behavior in the employees if their not aware of it. It seems more like a misunderstanding then a intentional act.

After re-reading the letter, I have a question. Were you actually standing AT the register, ready to order? Or were you not by the register and just looking at the menu? Maybe the employees thought you were still deciding on what to eat? Not to excuse the employees ignoring you, but just a thought.

The employees did not cause you to leave the store. YOU chose to leave yourself of your own accord.
And you want them fired...for something as minor as this?????
I've been threatened by a fast food employee ("Leave now or I'll call the cops!") before simply b/c I asked for my money back when my order turned up missing and I didn't want to wait any longer than the 20 minutes I'd already waited. The person who threatened me not only wasn't fired, but the company they worked for ignored my letter from this very website! (Domino's Pizza)
What happened to you WAS rude....but firing the employees for something as minor as this - they were just talking and ignoring you and your kid - is NOT warranted!

I am really shocked that so many people have suggested that you should have said something to the employee to gain there attention and get them to provide you with customer service. Unfortunately, these are the types of people who are employed in the fast food service industry. Too many people get jobs to get a paycheck and to do zero work. Useless people like this should be sent home to there useless parents to retrain. I no its harsh but its a fact.
Sorry your daughter was so upset.

If it was important and work related, the least they could have done is offer a "I apologize for the wait, We are currently having a situation with 'X.' I will be with you in one moment." While not ideal, it would have gone a long way to, at least, acknowledging the customer's existance.
To be fair, if I had employees looking right at me who didn't even offer me a greeting, if I had to SAY something to get their attention and be waited on at the register, I would probably leave as well, although I'd probably state a comment of some sort, if I had to walk out, so they had a chance to NOT repeat the issue with another customer.
Won't dine at Perkins to this day because of a similar reason. Was seated, was NOT super busy, had SEVERAL (about four) servers in our section glance in our direction, but were not acknowledged by ANY of them, not even a "I'm sorry for the wait, can I find out who your server is supposed to be?" We stayed longer than I would have if it had just been me, after ten minutes, we walked out after telling the greeter that we would prefer to eat somewhere we would actually be waited on.

Did you actually say anything to the register person? Perhaps they thought you were still looking at the menu and deciding? You also don't say how long you stood at the register before you walked.

called out to them to ask if they were open.
then they'd have at least been given the chance to say what was going on.
i'm not saying they did nothing wrong, but sometimes reminding them that they haven customers doesn't hurt either.
then if they still ignored me or were jerks... then i'd leave and go somewhere else. and perhaps drop a comment to the corporation

Excuse me mam or miss or what ever would be the right thing to do! Stay and make them wait on you without being rude! Why would your girl cry because you had to leave and go somewhere else to get you guy's something to eat? Jeez, what will your daughter do if it was a more complicated situation ? need Wendy's to furnish a grief counselor. If anything teach her about rude people who have no regard for you or her! It's called life, and usually it's not fair, but keep pushing on and you will get there! Peace

Well you could have just said excuse me miss can you please take our order, thank you. Your making such a big deal out of this. If you usually go there then this can't be something that happens a lot. Your in the city, thats how it is.

Couldn't you have just said "excuse me?" or something to that extent, to get their attention?

Do you REALLY want someone fixing food for you that has an attitude? I don't. You don't know what they are doing to the food in the back. Besides, walking out deprives the store of your money, and do you REALLY want to pay money to a store that keeps employees like that?
Personally, I would call the manager and/or the regional headquarters. If the higher-ups do not know there is a problem, they cannot fix it.

I think it was rude of the employees not to acknowledge you. I hate when I walk into a store and not be acknowledged, especially when I am at the register wanting to buy something. Did you say anything to the employee who should have been ringing up your order?
