Rude Wendy's employees caused me and my daughter to walk out of store

Hi,

I took my little girl to the Wendys on 455 South Boulder Road in Lafayette around 4:15 - 4:30 pm. We were the first ones in line. There was one woman behind us. The register person was too busy talking to two other employees to take our order. All three kept looking at us but continued to talk and ignore us. My daughter and I ended up walking out of the store. She started crying in the parking lot because of this incident.

This is a Wendys I frequent on a regular basis. Not sure this will be the case after this incident.

These employees do not belong in customer service and should be fired. They are bad for business. They make Wendys look really bad and possibly lost them a frequent customer.

Regards,

Disappointed and angry in Colorado.

If you truly feel you where treated badly then go to that particular
store and talk to the manager. He/She can't correct bad behavior in
the employees if their not aware of it. It seems more like a
misunderstanding then a intentional act.

After re-reading the letter, I have a question. Were you actually
standing AT the register, ready to order? Or were you not by the
register and just looking at the menu? Maybe the employees thought
you were still deciding on what to eat? Not to excuse the employees
ignoring you, but just a thought.

The employees did not cause you to leave the store. YOU chose to leave
yourself of your own accord.

And you want them fired...for something as minor as this?????

I've been threatened by a fast food employee ("Leave now or I'll call
the cops!") before simply b/c I asked for my money back when my order
turned up missing and I didn't want to wait any longer than the 20
minutes I'd already waited. The person who threatened me not only
wasn't fired, but the company they worked for ignored my letter from
this very website! (Domino's Pizza)

What happened to you WAS rude....but firing the employees for
something as minor as this - they were just talking and ignoring you
and your kid - is NOT warranted!

I am really shocked that so many people have suggested that you should
have said something to the employee to gain there attention and get
them to provide you with customer service. Unfortunately, these are
the types of people who are employed in the fast food service
industry. Too many people get jobs to get a paycheck and to do zero
work. Useless people like this should be sent home to there useless
parents to retrain. I no its harsh but its a fact.

Sorry your daughter was so upset.

because it works? by PepperElf Thu September 24, 2009 @ 9:43 AM

If it was important and work related, the least they could have done
is offer a "I apologize for the wait, We are currently having a
situation with 'X.' I will be with you in one moment." While not
ideal, it would have gone a long way to, at least, acknowledging the
customer's existance.

To be fair, if I had employees looking right at me who didn't even
offer me a greeting, if I had to SAY something to get their attention
and be waited on at the register, I would probably leave as well,
although I'd probably state a comment of some sort, if I had to walk
out, so they had a chance to NOT repeat the issue with another
customer.

Won't dine at Perkins to this day because of a similar reason. Was
seated, was NOT super busy, had SEVERAL (about four) servers in our
section glance in our direction, but were not acknowledged by ANY of
them, not even a "I'm sorry for the wait, can I find out who your
server is supposed to be?" We stayed longer than I would have if it
had just been me, after ten minutes, we walked out after telling the
greeter that we would prefer to eat somewhere we would actually be
waited on.

Did you actually say anything to the register person? Perhaps they
thought you were still looking at the menu and deciding? You also
don't say how long you stood at the register before you walked.

called out to them to ask if they were open.

then they'd have at least been given the chance to say what was going
on.

i'm not saying they did nothing wrong, but sometimes reminding them
that they haven customers doesn't hurt either.

then if they still ignored me or were jerks... then i'd leave and go
somewhere else. and perhaps drop a comment to the corporation

The majority of people can be nice, if not you can avoid them by just
staying home, but this is America. Those slacker's that work the
Wendy's counter should be ashamed at how lazy they are about not doing
their job. That is just lazy, their parents should have been the ones
to teach them to respect others and their job!

Well you could have just said excuse me miss can you please take our
order, thank you. Your making such a big deal out of this. If you
usually go there then this can't be something that happens a lot. Your
in the city, thats how it is.

this is just me but... I would have stood right there and stared at
them. they need to realize that im not going away just because they
ignore me. If it were more than a minute and they had acknowleged that
i was there but continued to discuss a non work related matter, i
would cut in and say "So how long do you plan to ignore me?" many of
these kids do not realize they are at work, and the customer must be
served as soon as is posible, not "when its convenient"

Couldn't you have just said "excuse me?" or something to that extent,
to get their attention?

I'm glad to hear you left. I hate it when they do this. If it was a
conversation related to work, they should have acknowledged you!
Stores need to realize that the customer comes first!

What were they talking about? Was it a personal conversation, or
business related? The manager could have been giving them directions.
Even if this is the case, it still would have been courteous to say
they will be right with you.

Do we even know if one of them was a manager... by E C. Fri September 18, 2009 @ 3:54 PM
by Courtney G. Posted Thu September 17, 2009 @ 9:09 PM

I think it was rude of the employees not to acknowledge you. I hate
when I walk into a store and not be acknowledged, especially when I am
at the register wanting to buy something. Did you say anything to the
employee who should have been ringing up your order?
