Chips Ahoy Chewy Cookies

I rarely buy Chips Ahoy cookies. I like to save them as a treat for the family. So when I recently bought one of your 15 oz chewy packages I was very disappointed. They weren't the little pieces of happiness I expected. Instead, inside the box I found little bits of dough that looked like they had barely been baked. The taste wasn't even the same. They didn't melt in my mouth. They just sat there annoying my taste buds.
I would just like to know why you have lowered the standards for such a wonderful product? When I thought of the Chips Ahoy I thought of wonderful; now I think of a rip off. I would like for you to take the pride in your products you had before.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A PACKAGE OF THE CHIPS AHOY CHEWY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES AND I ALMOST TOOK THEM BACK!
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I LOVED CHIPS AHOY BUT THEY WERE THE REGULAR CRUNCHY KIND. NOW, I SOMETIMES LIKE CHEWY SO WHEN I SAW CHIPS AHOY HAD A CHEWY BRAND, I OF COURSE PICKED UP A PACKAGE.
WHEN I OPENED THE PACKAGE AND DUG INTO THEM, I COULD BARELY EAT IT. THE COOKIES TASTE LIKE THERE IS SOME UNGODLY CHEMICAL IN THEM. I'M BETTING IT'S WHATEVER INGREDIENT USED TO KEEP THEM "MOIST" BUT GOSH, IT WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I WAS A LITTLE OUTRAGED THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT COULD EVER BE PASSED AND PACKAGED.
HOW CAN ANYONE EAT THEM? HOW DOES EVERYONE NOT NOTICE? IT IS JUST ME? IT CAN'T BE. THE TASTE IS UNDENIABLE.
I WOULD GLADLY GIVE UP THE FAKE, "HOMEMADE, JUST RIGHT OUT OF THE OVEN MOIST" COOKIE LOOK FOR JUST A GOOD TASTING COOKIE. I'M TELLING YOU, THE INGREDIENT USED TO KEEP THE COOKIES MOIST IS DISGUSTING. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND BUYING THE CHEWY AND WILL ABSOLUTELY NEVER EAT THEM AGAIN.

I guess it is just me, but I have never enjoyed Chips Ahoy cookies. They have always tasted like sweet plastic to me. I've always wondered how they stayed on the market... but I guess people really do like them.

I would be willing to bet it is the type of shortening blend they are using. With the change in fats to reduce cholesterol and calories, and for economic reasons the fat they chose to use may not be what you are looking for in texture and flavor profile.
And not everybody has the time to make homemade nowadays =( because nothing beats fresh out of the oven!

I used to love those cookies myself, but maybe they changed, maybe I did.
Next time, really treat them, with homemade! :) Those are the best.
But I think your request is perfectly resonable, you didn't really even ask for anything. Nice letter.

one time i cooked a box of the velveeta shells and cheese. i don't know what on earth was wrong with them, but they came out sooo weird. it was nothing i did...they just weren't right.
i called the number on the box and told them about it and they sent me two coupons for free boxes of the macaroni. all i had to do was read off the code on the box.
i bet if you call the number on the package they will do the same.

Why not just bake some cookies in the oven for a treat for the family?
I dont like cookies, but I would think they would be better than store bought cookies, at least they smell good baking anyway.
Good Day

My mom buys the regular Chips Ahoy, and they have really gone down in quality! They are tiny now!
The chewy ones are even smaller, you are correct in that observation.
We can only vote with our pocketbooks I'm afraid. I tend to like the keebler chunky chocolate chip cookies as a tastier alternative to Chips Ahoy. Archway is very good too. I do not know if they are a regional brand however.

It could depend on the bakery. I've been buying Chunky w/White Fudge (I think that's what they're called), for quite a while because they are my son's favorite, and they are always good. All the Chunky ones are good, and I haven't noticed any difference in quality at all. I haven't had the original ones for a while now, but I agree that Chewy Chips Ahoy are terrible.
It sounds like you just don't like Chips Ahoy in general.

I agree with you on those. I like Keebler better for the straight chocolate chip cookies; they're more of a shortbread that just tastes better. The Keebler Fudge Shop cookies tend to be horrible though, so you can't go by the brand name. The only brands where I've never hit a bad cookie are Stauffer's (odd, since they're a dollar store brand around here) from Pennsylvania and Bahlsen from Germany.
