FREE Shipping NOT! Bait and Switch game with shipping

Today, I was looking for blenders online. I did a little research and found your price the best on this item. As you can see below it says add to cart to see price. When I did the item dropped in red from a sales price down to 48.00 and some change before tax. I decided I would buy 2 in order to get free shipping.

Shipping for one was over 9 dollars and for 2 was 10.50. I still was slightly under the $99 requirement in that category of merchandise to obtain free shipping.

I then shopped and found something else in the required category of merchandise that I needed so that I now reached and slightly exceeded the 99 dollars needed for free shipping. As soon as I did the shipping showed up as free, BUT you immediately raised the price of the items to where buying just 2 blenders was now above 100 dollars. I had spent time shopping to reach that free shipping level just to have you end up charging me more for the same items with free shipping. You raised the price while I was shopping and the items were already in my cart. I then decided to remove the 3rd item that I added for the free shipping and the price stayed at the higher price. What a rip....... The reduced price when I initially added the blenders to the cart was in bold red! Anyway I went to Lowe's online and purchased one similar and received free shipping.

I would of been willing to pick up my purchase at a local store...but that option was never offered on the site for this item.

Cuisinart Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 500 Blender was the item

Sold by Sears

Sears item #00808609000
Mfr. model #SPB-10CH
User Rating: 0 ratings
$59.95
Add to cart to see our price

If you really don't wish to give free shipping then don't offer it. When someone has a price quoted already in their shopping cart you should not just raise the price before their eyes, especially when the consumer has not even exited the session.

The reason if a sale is advertised online through Sears.com then they
should ensure if it says ends Monday Night that it ends Monday night
and not in the middle of the day.

When a retailer makes an error in print they are required to show a
correction if they are not going to honor it. Now I don't know if or
what the rules are for online..but if there is no rules then perhaps
there should be. Of course when it is on a web site a stroke of a few
keys can make it go away quickly by a web programmer for the company.
In print the customer has the hard copy. Online you only have it if
you copy it prior to changes.

I had another situation with Sears.com on Black Friday. I was
purchasing a set of tires and online all tire sets were on sale with a
few exceptions. You were to get a $70 Dollar gift card instantly.

Options of ship were to a local store, to a local store for install,
or to your home.

I went through the process and chose to pick up/install local store.

Right before hitting submit for the order I noticed there was no
mention of my Instant Gift Card or how I would get it. I read the
details for the promo and it just said "Excludes BF Goodrich
Revelation, Everyday Great Price Items, Closeouts,
and Special Buys"Buy a set of 4 Goodyear, BFGoodrich or Michelin tires

to recieve Sears Gift Card"

My purchase was not excluded.

I decided to call the 1800 # prior to hitting submit to to see how I
was to get my card. I was told I think we mail it to you. I said well
I just want to make sure it clearly says instantly and I want to make
sure I get the card. The CS person then told me to call a 1888 #
which was the Auto Division of Sears.com. That person said you will
get it in the store when you do the install. I thought great, but I
have NO proof of this in writing. I decided to go a step further and
called the local store. The person that answered was in the auto
center. He put me on hold then came back and said yes if you bring
your receipt wehn you do your pick up install Monday it shows what
time you made your purchase. As long as it is by Noon the time the
offer ended we will give you the card. This purchase was at prior to 8
am. I then hit submit. Normally when I buy online anywhere I get an
instant reply Thanking me for my order. This time I got nothing
except for what appeared on my screen showing my items and a order
number. The problem was NO TIME stamp anywhere on what showed up on
my screen! I e-mailed Sears.com and prior to NOON got a response that
said as far as we can tell you should "get the card at Sears." My
install date 1st available was Monday.

At 3:00 someone called from Sears and asked if I had made a purchase
that morning. I said yes. I said I had even called cs wondering
about the gift card and why I did not get an email of my order. I
said in order to get the gift card I had to make the purchase by noon.
The caller from Sears said I will send that e-mail of your purchase
in a couple of hours. I see it was prior to 8 am when you made your
purchase. I said correct. When the e-mail arrived it was 4 hours
after the call from Sears at 3:00 PM.

The time on the Thank You for your order email was 7:39 PM. Almost 12
hour after my purchase.

Upon going to the store I told the Auto Center I was supposed to have
an install and pick up my gift card. I was told we don't have
"anything to do with the gift cards." I said wait a minute I even
called your store on Friday and someone in the auto center said to
come in and show your receipt. I said the receipt online did not show
the time of my order. I had purchased something that day and was
planning to use the gift card. The associate said you have to have the
gift card. I said you are supposed to give it to me. He finally
called the manager. I had to wait and the manager came out and told
the associate to Just Make it Happen. "I don't how just do it!"

The associate then told me that the online auto center ordering and
pick up or install in store was new. I said that was exactly the
impression I had received that no one really knew how things were to
work. Great offer just no clear instructions.

I think Sears.com has some issues that Sears need to work out. Are
they on purpose? I don't know......but seems fishy to me!

I saw on Sears Community on their site that someone else had been
waiting for over 2 months for a gift card for a tire purchase. I am
guessing some folks just give up on it. I am one of the folks, that
stands up for myself!

This is exactly what they removed from the online order when I met the
requirements for free ship. It was 48.55 which was 10% off the price.

It was 97.10 for two blenders prior to the price increase. I needed
99 for the free ship.

It also showed the lower price in red not black as it does now.

I just recreated your experience. Each blender for me was 53.95. If I
got two, it was 107.90.

By chance, was this a Cyber Monday "deal" that went off sale as you
were browsing? What time did this occur?

In stores, sales usually end or activate at 5 PM. Sometimes, I've seen
this reflected in the on-line sales as well.

If sears.com operates like Amazon.com, they do not guarantee the
prices in the carts to stay that price long term. I get e-mails
sometimes from amazon.com about things in my cart going up or down in
price, if I recall correctly. Ah, right on the cart page it says this:
Items in your cart are saved for 30 days. Merchandise availability and
pricing are not guaranteed.

Also, some items cannot be shipped to stores if your local store does
not have it. I know that my store does not carry this model. Well...it
does look familiar, but the number is not.

I would visit Sears' website and research this. I don't have the
stomach for it anymore. It is possible the price increased while you
were browsing.
