Macys.com needs to fix mistakes faster

On November 26th, Macys.com offered RipStiks online for $20. I ordered three and added some clothing in order to bring my total up so I could use a coupon.

On December 3rd, I was notified that the $20 price was an error, and I was offered the opportunity to purchase the Ripstiks for $75 each.

I am furious because:

1. It took SEVEN (7) full days for Macys to notify me that it was an error and
2. Macys.com had offered the Ripstik at $20 previously (August 11, 2009) so I had no reason to suspect an error and
3. Target offered the Ripstiks for $50 during the 7 days it took macys.com to cancel my order.

Additionally, I have some clothing that I bought as "fillers" for the Ripstik order to get free shipping. Since the Ripstiks were removed, shipping costs were added in, and I'll have to make a trip in to Macy's to return the items.

I would like the 3 RipStiks that I ordered.

This kind of problem seems to occur every Christmas season. How are
consumers supposed to know if an online price is legit or not? It is
Macy's responsibility to check the pricing of products on line. If a
consumer purchases an item online for a stated price, the retail store
should honor that price and bit the bullet if it later determined to
be incorrect. This is the only way to protect consumers from retail
stores saying the price we posted was not correct.

Macy's should honor the $20 price you paid.

I'm with you on this as well. This was presumably a mistake made by
Macy's.com, so it was an error that should have been caught much
earlier than you were notified. I hope you receive a reasonable
response/explanation for why/how this happened. At the very least, it
would be nice of them to price match the $50 price you missed out on
by passing up Target's sale.

You know I am with you on this. There should be some sort of state
law that prohibits retailers from doing this after a set and
reasonable time period and I feel that waiting 7 days is an
UNreasonable time period to find out that there is a pricing error and
you will not receive what you paid for. After 7 days you would assume
that the items were on the way to be shipped.

The retailer has the responsibility to ensure that what ever item is
placed on the website is the true and correct price for that item.
Otherwise it might be considered false advertising.
