Comments left by the PFB Team

Posted Tue December 15, 2009 2:43 pm, by Nate E. written to PlanetFeedback

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

I would like to express my dissatisfaction regarding a comment left by the PlanetFeedback team. The specific comment in question was on the letter in which the OP was concerned that they were not getting responses.

A member of the diverse PlanetFeedback Community "franese", had posted a comment stating her opinion about the fact that a letter to PlanetFeedback had presumably gone unanswered. The response from the PlanetFeedback team was an accusatory, antagonistic, "How do you know the PFB letter did not receive a reply?"

This type of comment, in my opinion, is uncalled for and not professional. In my opinion, a more professional response on the part of whomever left the comment would have been;
"I would like to assure you that PlanetFeedback did reply to the letter that was sent by this member. We chose to contact this member directly by email... etc."

By leaving these sarcastic comments, this member of the PFB team is furthering the drama and general attitude of negativity that can be found on the site.

I would like PFB to remind the members of its team to leave constructive, positive comments that will lead to positive, constructive discussions.

Thanks Nate but I actually didn't take any offense to the answer from
the PFB team. I just posted back to them that I wrote that because
the letter writer listed them as one of the companies who has not
answered him. I think their answer to me was fair and was not at all
nasty or sarcastic.

Now...some people may say that may comment was sarcastic and I think
that's a fair statement in light of what's been going on here lately.

I think it should be treated like employers treat employees. There is
no need for us to know how something was handled or that it even was.

Bugs the crap out of me when my employees want to know how I
disaplined someone. I just tell them it was handled.

When it comes to customer concerns about this site its the admin teams
job to handle it, and our job to stay out of it and just assume it was
handled and everything is fine.

I am sure they dont need us speaking for them or guessing that
something is wrong because what they did wasnt made public.

Personally, I feel that a better response on PFB's part would have
been, "thanks for the concern, but we responded to the OP privately."

And just leave things at that. I mean, why respond with that question?
Why not just be honest and right to the point?

Do you find the writing style to be any different than what you have
observed in the past few years, from "the PFB team"? I don't.

If you are interested in positive change, I would ask you to look
around and think about what has changed in say, the past 12 months.
Now extrapolate it out, and you have a glimpse of the future.

My advice would be to accept it or move on. Judging from the
responses, others have.

both were a little "off" in this case. On Franese's side, it may have
had to do with some of the animosity that went on here a few months
ago. I know, based on my history here, I might have gotten upset
about that response but I don't think it was meant to offend. I think
short statements, without explanation, like "what makes you think
otherwise" can be construed as antagnostic. Better might have been
"we don't always post when we reply but we do reply to every letter we
receive."

But, I think overall, we've gotten to a kinder, gentler PBF and that
includes admin. I cross my fingers it remains. There are still
things I don't agree with, like blog moderation, and getting comments
pulled without explanation but I have found a way to "agree to
disagree" here.

you know i have to agree with you on that
i think it has gotten a bit less antagonistic here

heck... i've even recommended this site to a couple of people now

And perhaps the PFB team will consider it for future. However, just as
we tell LWs that they are not privy to the behind-the-scenes details
concerning a company (particularly when it involves
employee-management relations), I think also that it is important to
remember we are not always privy to the behind-the-scenes details from
PFB. Nor should we be.

I agree responses here have been a lot more positive, including from
admin. There are things I still don't agree with, but I know I also
have the option to take it or leave it.

Actually, I think the site has been pretty positive of late. It still
receives some silly letters (some sillier than others), but the
responses are generally more civil. Of course, that's due to the
tightened TOS, but it's still more positive.
I thought the response in question was fair.

It was a valid question and I didn't see any sarcasm in PFB's
response.

Maybe Santa will bring you a new sarcasm-meter for Christmas because I
think yours is broken.
