Can it be coincidende that NONE of your child models is brown?

Write a Letter to this Company

A friend of mine recently became a Kelly's Kits rep and I was going to send the URL for your online catalog to my wife (who is currently in Canada) so that my daughters could pick out their own clothes and my wife could double check the sizes. After searching your online catalog for some time, I elected to not send the link. My daughters are of East Indian descent and I was unable to find a single, solitary picture in your catalog of a single child that was not light haired, blue-eyed and extremely white-skinned. There didn't even seem to be varying shades of white; they all looked like they had been hand selected for their extremely white skin.

Can it be a COINCIDENCE that there is not one single dark-skinned child anywhere in your catalog? Or did I simple miss him or her in my searches? Before I will consider patronizing your business, I need some kind of indication that there is not something going on here beyond extreme ignorance on the part of your marketing staff. Frankly, I find it a little difficult to believe that, out of all those children, they all just HAPPENED to be extremely light.

I've still received no response from this company. This leads me to
conclude that the complete absence of any brown-skinned children is
neither an accident nor are the children shown all relatives of the
owner. If either of these two possibilities was the case, it would
have taken but a few seconds to email me to clarify this. My family
will NOT be patronizing this business.

I've not heard a word from this company which is making it more and
more difficult to believe that these children are simply relatives of
the owner.

This compoany is a small family-run business out of rural Louisiana.
The photos of the children show children that look so much alike, they
seem to be siblings and cousins -- the grandchildren of the woman who
started the business.

While there certainly are many blacks in Louisiana, the south is still
very much a segregated society.

Surely you can find clothing for your kids from a more diverse company
if it's that important to you.

Also the "extremely white skinned" children you refer to -- that's the
result of a sort of artsy overexposure of the photographs on the
website.
