PINK OUIJA BOARD, what is Hasbro's real agenda for our children?
Posted Sat February 6, 2010 1:23 pm, by Alicia T. written to Hasbro, Inc.
Write a Letter to this Company
I believe Hasbro is completely and utterly disgusting for creating a PINK OUIJA board. It is obvious that Hasbro is a supporter of the occult, satanic rituals, and witchcraft. I will never, ever buy another Hasbro product. I will not allow a Hasbro product in my home, or allow one of my childrens friends to play your games at my house at sleepovers. I will be blogging about this, posting it on Facebook, youtube, and making as many people and parents as I can, aware of your agenda and purpose:
To instill occult practices and rituals in our children at an early age so that when they grow older, they are already used to trying to contact spirits and the dead (If their ouija board play hasn't lead them further into the occult already).
It's amazing how Hasbro would create and stand by such a product. And then tell the media it's just a "game"? The nerve of you all. Does anyone at Hasbro have a degree or any kind of formal education? Are you guys dead over there? Anyone with a Google search engine can see the ouija board is not a game. Why on earth, would you put out a pink "game" for children that satanists, witches, and other individuals involved in the occult believe can be used to contact evil or entities from another realm? Have you no souls? I do not believe this is a mistake, or just Hasbro trying to update its products and make them more appealing to a greater crowd. This type of board was first introduced by spiritualists! If Hasbro wants to make a spiritualist product, that is your free will, and one day you ALL will have to answer for your misleading product. This type of product, "spiritualist TOYS" should not be found in ANY children's section of any store anywhere. Marketing it to children in a pink and barbie-like fashion is immoral, reprehensible and inconceivable. I am completely in awe at what US corporations will do in these modern times in order to stuff another dollar in their already overfilled pockets.
Recall this pink occult Ouija board aimed at the minds of small, innocent children immediately. I will be writing a similar letter also to every major retailer of toys.

As a young kid its "magic" to see the plancet move over the board. I played with one once at a friends house when I was in about 6th grade. At the time in a child's eyes it was interesting. Now that I have heard more on the subject of the boards I would never touch one again. Ouija boards are "known" to invite "spirits?" through a portal and if you get something you can't handle you may be in trouble. If you listen to Coast to Coast (radio talk show) AM with Art Bell in the past or George Noory they as well as other people who call into the show have some pretty scary stories to tell about the Ouija Boards. The Ouija Boards have been around forever. If I were a parent I would do some serious research before purchasing one or giving my blessing for my child to purchase one. I'm sure that most religious leaders would say not to play with a Ouija Board. The color pink? Is that geared towards girls? I don't know many boys that would play with anything pink. Did Hasbro's marketing show that girls purchase them more than boys? As with any item you purchase for a child it requires the parent to do their research to see if it is safe and age approriate and goes with their beliefs.

Wow, I've heard it all now. A Ouija board has nothing to do with Satan or witchcraft or even the occult really. I'm pretty certain that any hardcore Satanist is not going to Toy's R Us to buy a Ouija for their "spiritualist" conquests. It's just a game. I played it when I was a kid and still do occasionally with friends for a laugh. I'm not a witch, a Satan worshiper or anything of the sort. I believe in God, I pray and I lead my life trying to be the best person I can, but according to you I must be a "witch" or on my way to Hell since you say those that manufacture this board are going to have to "answer for this product"- I suppose when I meet my maker I will have to "answer" for messing around with a party game too. So what if the board is pink, yellow, green or any other color? Does that make it more "Satan" like? I think it's totally fine that Ouijas are against your beliefs and that you don't allow your kids to use them, but to boycott an entire company that makes many other family games that your children can enjoy just because they make a (God forbid) PINK Ouija, seems a bit over the top. Do you also have a problem with the Magic 8 ball? They make a pink version of that as well.

What if they had created a mauve Ouija board? Royal blue?
Now Aqua, I agree that is disgusting. But pink? I am just not seeing that as disgusting.

Ouija boards are toys. Period. And I don't see why you are complaining about the pink one, rather than the whole line of Ouija boards.
I am pretty sure that any parent who has gone into a store with Hasbro toys is aware that Ouija boards are for sale. That's very old news.

Uh...OUIJA boards have been around since I was a kid. We used them a lot when we had sleepovers when I was a teenager. Its an amusement - a toy...there is nothing satanic or magic about this toy. Its answers are driven by the person moving the piece over the letters and numbers.
But you are entitled to your opinion.

Some people think the Ouija board is just for fun, others believe it holds real dangers. In any case, if you do not like it, do not not have to buy it. Just because you believe in something, does not mean other people have to as well. What if I decided to Boycot the company because they sold Christian toys and I was an Athiest?
People have differant beliefs, how DARE YOU decides what they should sell based on yours.

I once babysat for a religious family who didn't allow their kids to watch Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons because the whole "ghost" thing was linked to the occult.

While I totally agree that Ouija boards are really NOT good things to market. I have to say that jumping from "They sell these things" to "THEY SUPPORT THE OCCULT!" Is a rather fallacious leap of logic.
I would be willing to bet that Hasbro (and others) simply have not looked deep enough into the true meanings/implications of the Ouija boards...and are looking at it as a simple fun game for children.
I would also like to state that, my personal feelings aside, many MANY people believe that items (such as the Ouija board) have only as much power as we allow them to have. Someone who does not believe in the spiritual side of things may have absolutely no ill effects from the 'game'. And may see it as only that, an interesting game of "guess the answer".
I agree that Hasbro should definitely re-evaluate the 'game' and put SERIOUS thought into removing it from the market. But I would also suggest not jumping to conclusions from one mistake made by a toy-company; Hasbro makes some very good, very educational toys for children, swearing them off all together because of one mistake isn't a very good idea.

I TOTALLY agree with the OP on this post. I saw the pink Ouija boards in Toys R Us this past Christmas and was shocked as well. Ouija boards ARE NOT games. They can be VERY, VERY dangerous and should never be used as a "GAME"! I am shocked that people have responded saying that it is "freedom of Religion". Would you let your child play with a loaded pistol? You probably would if you feel that messing with this stuff is a "Game"!!! I would NEVER, EVER let my children play with any type of occult device like this, it is just asking for trouble!!

This makes perfect sense to me. Girls like the color pink. The reason they've put out a pink ouija board is to appeal to girls, many of whom have pink as their favorite color.
You know - one of this country's founding principles is freedom of religion - allowing anyone the right to be Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Moslem, Satanist, Atheist or Agnostic.
This board should NOT be recalled as the company has a right to sell a board in any color they choose, whether the board is linked to the occult or not.
And FYI - you should try to be more tolerant of others' beliefs if you want them to be tolerant of yours.

So you're asking them to pull a product because it doesn't align with your religion. Should Burger King stop selling cheeseburgers because it goes against the Jewish religion to eat them?

The last time I used a Ouija board, my friend and I contacted a "vampire." Well, that's what he said he was. I don't remember his name though.
I was also drunk.
I think of Ouija boards the same way I now view Astrology, Tarot cards, etc: they only have meaning if you assign it to them. From the descriptions below, it sounds like this is designed to be a stupid toy and not much more.

First of all, the OUIJA board's "powers" have nothing to do with the supernatural. It has to do with the tiny, imperceptible tremors of the muscles in the users' hands as well as their own subconscious thoughts and desires. No demons, angels, ghosts or other-dimensional beings of any kind are being contacted.
The only danger is the potential to instill belief in superstitious nonsense rather than critical thinking and a serious scientific interest in the world. The Ouija board has about as much mystical power as newspaper horoscopes, palmistry and other forms of divination, which is to say: none at all.

I hope you're ALSO boycotting Mattel's "Magic 8-Ball" which is a novelty toy used for fortune-telling and seeking advice!!
Oooh! Evil!
(Well, AT LEAST it's not pink!)
And I assume you'll be boycotting ALL stores that sell those products?
"Outlook not so good"?
"Concentrate and ask again"?
or
"Very doubtful"?
PS You actually ARE correct about toy manufacturers having no souls. I recently read that on the Internet!

People cannot contact spirits with just a piece of cardboard and a planchette - they also need to be able to use their mind and any sort of spiritually sensitive abilities. I mean, people can allegedly see spiritual activity with mirrors (scrying)...should mirrors be recalled too because someone might gaze into one trying to find the meaning of life? Believe it or not, sometimes all a person might need to contact a spirit is a quiet space and a clear mind.
In the hands of children, a Ouija board is little worse than one of those paper fortune tellers school children make and ask silly questions to. If you have sensitive people using a Ouija board, they might be able to make contact with a spirit, but a bunch of tweens and teenyboppers? Odds are, the power of suggestion is at work.
Ouija boards have been around for decades, and they aren't going to be recalled any time soon. Believe me, you aren't the first person to be offended by their existence; your offense and that of others has not and will not make Hasbro stop making these popular games.

Back, when I was a kid, in the age of Dinosaurs, some of my friends had a OUIJA Board that had been up in their attic with their great grandma's things...so it likely dated to the 1920's if that. It was pink, so this colour scheme is NOT new and I just don't see the conspiracy. I think it's more of a throw back to the "original".

As far as I know, Ouija boards don't actually have the ability to contact the dead therefore it is a game...but I guess that's a personal opinion of mine.
Just out of curiosity, have your children ever seen "casper the Friendly Ghost"?

You don't approve. You aren't going to buy it. What more is there to say?
Why does the company need to pull a TOY that has been sold for DECADES just because YOU believe it to be satanic?
There are other people that fervently believe in what you oppose. So what happened to freedom and justice FOR ALL?

i don't actually think the company is a practitioner of satanic rituals but i do understand your complaint.
But before I go on here's something to set straight
Witches do NOT worship Satan. They worship "god and goddess" - if you're talking traditional Old England style.
Yes there are still some who are locked into the mindset that all witches are in congress with the Devil but... that's pretty much superstition from the Dark Ages.
Or from Salam, when people were accusing their neighbors of being "Satanic" and "Witches". In reality... they weren't witches at all, but richer, which is why they were a target.
So anyway now that the misconception of witchcraft is out of the way, let's get to the matter of Ouija boards.
This is where I think companies screw up. They treat them like toys and I've read - and HEARD - too many first-hand accounts of bad things happening,
The thing is.. say it DOES work and you contact ... something...
People don't realize that - just because you contact a spirit doesn't mean it's actually a GOOD one. Or that it has your best interest at heart.
However this is nothing new. They've been marketing these things as toys for well over 20 years.
But I tell you what... If you think this thing is "witchcraft" go ask a witch.
Most of the witches I've met won't associate with Ouija boards either.

So if they discontinued the pink Ouija board and went back to the fake wooden one with satanic symbolys you would be ok with that?
I know there would be a huge outrage in the goth community if they got rid of the pink one, but thats on your shoulders.

Ouija boards, harry potter, they are all means to get kids into the occult.
They start when they are young, they are the most susceptible to this stuff.
I dont think its just a game, its serious stuff.

I'm seeing Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit just on the Hasbro homepage. And My Little Pony.
After clicking on links, I find Tonka and Nerf. Hasbro OWNS Playskool! Battleship. Candyland. Connect 4. Clue. PLAY-DOH!!! Dora and Diego. Risk. Scrabble. Tinkertoys.
You're going to deny your kids and their friends Play-Doh??? And Scrabble?
I've never been terribly interested in a Ouija board, but I would never boycott Mr. Potato Head and Scrabble because the same company made them.
Be ready to walk the walk you're talking. And be ready to explain WHY, to your kids and their friends.

A little known fact is that everyone at Hasbro is dead. They rely on people having Ouija boards to communicate with the company, and thus the agenda to make them attractive to the widest possible audience.
Sadly, I'm not sure this complaint will get through, given this state of affairs. I know a method that could possibly be more useful, but I don't believe you would be interested.
