I love making my husband sweat for Valentines Day. I think the holiday
is one of the biggest jokes, but it's still fun and as long as a
little effort is made I'm always a happy girl.

What sucks is when you're husband actually goes out of his way to buy
you a cute gift and plans a nice dinner somewhere super special with
reservations, linen napkins, wine...the works and still manages to
fail at the romance.

Next time, plan your trip closer to home and not 75 miles away no
matter how pretty Ojai, CA is, unless you're planning on spending the
night. A long drive back, stuck in traffic with a failing car and a
tipsy wife is not a good place to be. By the time we got home I was no
longer tipsy, but exhausted, stressed and with a slight headache. Not
a fun way to end the evening.

Thankfully my husband isn't silly enough to think that a nice gift and
expensive dinner will get you anywhere in the first place. That's not
the kind of reward system I like to encourage, but HELL girls have
needs too dang it!

Here's a question I've been asking myself though. If I'm not the
wine'em and dine'em kind of girl then what kind of girl am I? When my
husband asks me what kind of romantic things I like to do I give the
same response most girls give. A walk in the park or beach, candle lit
dinner, a little dancing...big maybe on the dancing. Truly though,
none of those things END in Romance in my head. How do you find what
works on days like this and every other day?

As a matter of fact, I spent the first night of our romantic honeymoon
cruise in bed. My wedding was on a Friday night and our cruise left
on Saturday. We were up most of the night on Friday and then ran
home, finished packing and left for the ship. We had a couple of
cocktails when we boarded and by the time we sat down to dinner, it
all hit me. I went back to our cabin to lie down, then got cold and
put my sweats on. Hubby came back expecting a little romance and
found me under the covers shivering in my sweats..so much for romance.
We did end up making up for lost time.
