TB or not TB?

I like Taco Bell a lot. That is why I am taking the time to help them improve.
Last night I entered the drive-through with my family. We hit a language barrier with the lady serving the drive-through (English was her second language). I was feeling pretty patient and tried three times to get my order entered correctly but each time she had gotten it wrong.
I sensed that she was getting embarrassed or annoyed too, so I told her we would park and go inside to order. My wife decided to go in alone. It took quite a while for her to come out with the food and this story.
She said that when she got up to the counter the person had to excuse himself to cover the drive-through because the drive-through person had to take a break. But instead of simply asking that people in the drive-through to hold for a moment, he proceeded to take their order while my wife waited at the counter. She was too mad at that point to say anything so she just waited. Not a pleasant experience.
This is my suggestion Taco Bell. Make your menu easier to order off of. Refer to McDonald's menu and you will see that every meal has a number next to it. If you make it easy to order, language barriers will become less of an issue and you will have fewer upset customers. Oh, yeah…consider the first come first serve policy.
By the way...the new shrimp taco is pretty good! :)

I just have to say, thank you for writing such a polite letter! It is so refreshing.
I really hope Taco Bell takes your advice to heart, at least for the things that can be simplified. It would make it much easier in the long run.
Sorry your wife had an unpleasant experience, but I am glad you liked the shrimp taco!
^_^ hopefully your next visit will be awesome.

We dont have a language barrier at my TB so much as an Age barrier. The 16 year olds who seem to run the place would rather chat with each other than serve you food or take orders.
Last time I went with my wife it took forever to order even though we were the only car, then when we got the window the girl was texting. Funny thing is when she opened it to take our money she apologized and said he friend in the back was texting her silly things. They were texting each other when they were 20 feet apart!
*sigh* kids

I think this must be the most politely written letter on this site on the topic of language barriers at a business in the U.S.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
I sometimes get complaints like this at my job, and I explain.
Sometimes Hispanics are the only ones applying.
What would you do?
I dont mind it all, they are excellent workers for the most part.
Good Day

Like McDonald's, though, there is a lot on the menu that doesn't fit into a combo meal. Cinnamon chips. An extra side of refried beans.
Even combo meals have choices--hard shell or soft shell? Which drink? Would you like any sauce with that? What kind? How many?
Then, of course, there are the "no onions" and "extra sour cream" orders.
Add in a language barrier and a busy DT. Everybody is likely to be frustrated.
At least your patience paid off with the shrimp taco.
