Overcharges and High pressure selling

Posted Mon April 5, 2010 9:37 pm, by Joseph S. written to Oil Can Henry's

Write a Letter to this Company

I use Oil can Henry's for regular oil changes on both of our cars. We have always used Castrol GTX 5w30 for our oil to be used. On the last visit I when I got home I noticed on the bill that they had used synthetic blend Castrol and charged an extra 12.00. I called them and they insisted that they were correct. I have my records and they were NOT correct. They also continually overpressure you to purchase things that you do not need and if you did you would have Honda dealer install them. (I.E. Transmission flush) On one occasion I was charged 24.00 for an Air filter that Schucks sells for 8.50.

Stop high pressure selling,ESPECIALLY on women, and be sure that the customer agrees to the type of oil that they are using, Before they install it.

Rowdy says this every time a letter about a problem changing oil comes
up, but it ignores the reality
many people have no interest in changing their oil, their air cleaner,
etc. They want to get in the car and drive. We pay professionals to
do jobs we can't/don't want to do. If we delete these jobs, that is
one more major hit to the economy.

I do, but I do all my own maintenance and home repairs. I have a lot
of tools, and right now there are two open, messy oil drain pans in my
garage. There are several oil containers with used oil waiting for me
to dispose of them. The average person doesn't want to stock more
than a screwdriver and a pair of pliers, and oil drain pans and old
oil I think not.

Many cars also have a splash gueard under the engine that needs to be
removed. Not a big deal for someone who does this stuff often, but
many people won't want to deal with one more detail let alone the
rest.

I drive my car up a couple of homemade ramps to drain the oil. Most
people aren't going to want ramps sitting around waiting for the oil
change, either. In most people's minds, it is worth $20 to pay
someone vs the time, mess, etc of do-it-yourself. I respect that.

The days of a wingnut or two for the air cleaner are gone. With my
Volvos, there are several hard to reach clips. On some trucks it
takes hours to replace the spark plugs.

To answer the disposal question, WalMart and auto parts stores, at
least in my state.

My mom's boyfriend used to say that if everyone were like my mom, most
places would go out of business. We need the average person buying
stuff, paying to get stuff serviced. That is what keeps the economic
engine turning. I personally don't want to go back to trading beads
for fur coats.

This may be a radical but effective concept....Change your own oil.

This will alleviate all of this.

Good Day

If they are claiming they didnt put Synthetic oil in your car, and you
a receipt showing they charged you for it, bring it back and get your
$12.00 back.

Oil change places are huge into pressuring everyone into things. Find
a good place that treats you right and keep giving you them your
business.
