In-store Samples

I had gone to my local Sephora store in Modesto, CA. I asked one of the employees for a sample of green primer and I was about to ask for a sample of some foundation powder that was right next to the primer. I know it was a bit busy that day in the store so, she quickly grabbed the primer and said she'd have it in just a minute before I could ask for the foundation powder as well.

After she had gave me the primer sample I then asked for a sample of the powder. She said sure; just let me help these customers first. I said fine, I waited for about 15 minutes and she came and gave me the sample. So then I went to pay for my purchases.

Later on that day when I went to try the sample of foundation powder I discovered she hardly put anything in the container. It was not even enough for to apply on my entire face one time, seems like she sprinkled a few drops into the container.

I was not expecting the container to be full, but at least enough to where I can try the product out at least once or twice. I have never had a problem with getting a sample of a product, and a majority of the time the employees will fill the container. This has bothered me a lot because I spend a lot of money at Sephora and I like to try things because I have sensitive skin. I think next time I need make-up I might just go the Macy's counter instead.

I would like Sephora to train there employees better on customer relations, and a usable sample of Make up Forever HD Microfinishing Powder. I don't mind taking my business elsewhere if need be. I would appreciate a timely respnse to this matter.

I don't believe slighted you deliberately. You did say it was busy
after all and she probably just hurridly put some in a sampler and
handed it to you. So going back and asking for another sample would be
fine.

Why not just go back and ask for some more? I'm sure that they would
give you some. I have a friend that works for Sephora and they don't
really have a limit as to how much product they dispense in a sample.
Maybe that clerk was just a little stingy. Maybe she was busy and
didn't realize how little she provided.

It is a sample. Is there an industry standard for how much product a
sample should contain?

I think you need to go back and ask for another sample. I don't think
they will send you one, but there is no harm in asking.

Its a sample, what do you expect?

Its like samples at the grocery store, they are not there to be a
subsitute for a meal, they are a sample.

I remember shopping with my mother and she would sample nail polish.
The clerk gave her nail poilish remover and wiped it on one finger,
and put the new polish on ONE finger, not all the finger, because its
just a SAMPLE.

Good Day
