I went shopping at the Kmart in Va.Beach. I was checking out paid with a check electronicaly went thru and i signed my copy for them and he took his copy, some how the computer jammed and the head cashier came over and said she would have to rering everything by hand because it voided the transation when it jammed (she had a print out of what i purchased from the office) she said the first check i submitted would not go thru since it voided it, i said ok. They gave me an employee discount for my troubles and i went on my way. Two days later i checked my bank account and both checks went thru. I went to the customer service and spoke with the manager Johnathon and all he said is we cant do anything for 7-10 days,so im out 154.00 until then. I am a mother of 3 kids husband deployed living paycheck to paycheck. This was there mistake and i have to suffer. it just isnt right. I will never shop at Kmart again.
GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK................................

This is one of those cases where a business REALLY needs to get on the ball or will turn a bad mistake into a terrible situation, considering the mistake was completely their fault.
This is a situation where the store should have bent over backwards ASAP to get the situation rectified as speedily as possible, even if it meant the cash had to come out of the store's safe funds until they could get reimbursed by their corporate office.
7-10 days for THEIR mistake? Unacceptable.
Please let us know how this plays out.

they can get it done quickly. This manager should have made sure it was voided because now that these checks are electronically run, it's like a debit transaction.
But I don't know how Kmart systems are run. Once the check was run, it was valid. You signed and the signature went through--that means the transaction completed, I think. This is how it works on Sears side, mostly. When you sign, we hit one more button and that's the total out button. If the computer crashes between signing and printing the receipt, chances are that it's still a valid transaction.
It can be picky, but the manager should have double checked or called the service that performs these electronic funds draft for us to verify that it's canceled.

I received a call today from the Manager i spoke with at the store. I guess the call i made to Corp. Office got the wheels rolling. He said the Regional Manager contacted him and if the money is not back in my account by Monday they would go ahead and refund my money and compensate me for my troubles. We will see how this goes. Thanks for your reply.
