False advertising on state rebate

Hi,
I purchared a Kenmore 22.4 Bottom-freezer Refrigerator on April 1, 2010 (order# 134729050). I then filled out the NJ State rebate form for $75. A few days later the state informed me that I would not receive any rebate because Sears did not participate. The State said that Sears wanted to give the rebate themselves and that they did not want to be part of the State Rebate deal. I have two problems with this:
1. I never got any $75 rebate from Sears.
2. Sears had been sending me emails at least once a week since January saying that the NJ State Rebate was coming in April, and they would help me file. Well I got no help filing, and then was told that Sears is "an invalid retail participant". This seems like false advertising to me.
Somehow I think Sears owes me $75.
Sincerely,
Frank O.
Credit me the $75 that I should have received from NJ. I would have received this credit if I never believed Sears emails, and just bought a fridge from another retailer. No, I trusted what Sears said, and because of that I lost out on the rebate

It would make sense that on-line orders are not eligible. This was a STATE rebate. On-line is national. It would make perfect sense that you have to go to a physical location, the store in the state of NJ, to make a purchase. They sent e-mails to you, sure, but it was for the store. I don't think it said, "purchase on-line and you'll get your rebate!"
At the Sears stores, there were multiple computers set up to assist customers. Associates from other departments were brought in to help the brand central associates complete rebates and assist customers. Many stores opened very early--mine opened at 6 AM.
I don't think ANY retailer's on-line stores could participate in the state rebate.

I mean, what's to stop an out of state resident in a bordering state from ordering a product from sears.com for pick up in NJ? They would get the rebate if on-line orders were eligible. So, in order to keep tax dollars and make sure state residents get the rebates, it makes sense to limit it to physical locations.

If you were getting emails saying they were joining the state rebate program then the state owes you the money not sears.
I would print off the emails and send them to the appropriate place.
