Hair in the Food.

I had a couple gift cards I need to use from Darden. I decided to take my family out to Red Lobster. We had a new waiter, who was really nice, just didn't know what he was doing. He brought out the wrong appetizer, and they brought the wrong meal. It wasn't a big deal, we ate them anyways, because we filled up on biscuits.

The fish was undercooked, slimy inside, and the chicken was hard as rubber. The stuffed mushrooms has a strange flavor in the middle, and seemed to be stale.

So as I am eating my meal, I noticed a black hair in the food. No on in my family has black hair, so I was grossed out.

Since the guy was new, I didn't want to get him in trouble, so I quietly asked for the check so we can leave.

The check was all messed up, because the new guy charged us for another meal we didn't order, do we had to get a manager over to override the price.

The check was corrected, and we paid and left.

I would like the kitchen inspected to see why there is hair in the food.

And maybe refund me via gift card so we can all visit another Darden property. I wont be going back to that Red Lobster any time soon.

This was 12 noon May 28th 2010 at the Fort Myers, Fl Location.

And we spent about $60-75 with tip.

If something was wrong, you should provide feedback to the manager
immediately (On the spot)

IMHO, the new guy did not deserve a tip bc the check was wrong, and
twice bringing the incorrect food to the customer.

Also there may be other issues that the manager needs to resolve,
such as training of the waitstaff

You really should have talked to the manager right then and there.

It would not have gotten your server in trouble since most servers do
not make the food.

Right then and there they can inspect the food and see the quality and
... quite frankly they can see the hair that's in the food.

You *might* get a response after the fact but there's no guarantee.

If you wanted to get out of paying your bill, you should have said
something while you were there.

Gotta love the vagueness of the 'we spent ABOUT' and then you give a
$15 range. That's just dumb.

What did the manager have to say by Donno Sat May 29, 2010 @ 6:59 PM

i work monday-friday open shifts at an rl. i am there everytime there
is a fresh fish delivery and i'm pretty sure that guy you know has no
idea what he's talking about.
must just be that location. i generally only eat the fish there
because it's the healthiest option, and in 4.5 years i've only ever
had one piece of fish that had turned a bit. i also know once i
brought it to the managers attention that the whole batch was thrown
out.
in regards to the letter, nothing drives me crazier than someone who
has no idea how to handle complaining at a restaurant. the management
at my restaurant will take any legit complaint and ensure it's fixed,
provided it's brought to their attention in a timely and mature way.
speak up people! right then and there! the whole point of eating out
is to enjoy your time and want to return to the establishment.

If you simply mentioned to the manager that the food quality was poor
and that there was hair, the server would not have been in trouble as
it is not his fault that the kitchen messed up. The time to resolve
this would have been with the manager at the time of the meal. Likely
you would have received a refund on the spot.
