The worse experience ever.

Posted Sat October 23, 2010 12:39 pm, by Joseph R.

I arrived at the Mabry village location in Marietta, GA approximately 3:30 PM on October 22, 2010. Upon parking and entering the sidewalk I hear a dog barking. As it turns out a patron has a dog at the outdoor patio area that is barking at another patron's (2) dogs who happen to be propped up in chairs at an adjacent table and essentially all over the table. Now, while apparently there are no regulations preventing patrons from having their pets sit at the table, it is definitely disrespectful to other patrons who would like to come and enjoy a relaxing moment only to be disturbed by the loud barking of someone's dog, but more importantly, its inappropriate for an unsuspecting patron to come make a purchase and sit down at a table where the possibility exists that dogs or other pets may have been allowed to sprawl all over the table top. Now, as if this wasn't enough, as I sat in my automobile in total disgust and disbelief I watched the patron take a water pan inside and return to allow the dogs to drink from the pan. I immediately wondered to myself, "just what sink was used to retrieve the water?"

I realize that I am just 1 innocent would-be customer that decided against patronizing this particular Starbucks location. I am not sure what I would like to see happen. Is it possible to lay some ground rules as to restrictions on bringing pets to the location? I imagine it's highly unlikely that this would occur. I was quite inconvenienced. I did not spend any money, so there is no reimbursement involved. However, rest assured I will not have anything good to say about this location anytime soon.

i don't see how any health issues were created.

it's outside. therefore all hope of having a sterile environment is
kaput. forget dogs - if birds can fly in and poop on a table, there's
no hope of having a sterile area.

And the dog's bowl? Really?
Let's go with your assumption that the patron used a sink.

Just which sinks do you think the patron has access to? Oh yes, the
washroom sink. So... somehow filling a dog's bowl from the toilet
sink will contaminate the sink? I mean worse contamination than the
particles of human feces that the toilets spray up when you flush?

believe me, even if the dog's saliva somehow ended up in the toilet
sink, it won't contaminate you as you wash your hands in it. You're
more likely to pick up germs from the soap dispenser and the faucet
handles. Why? Because that's the items everyone touches while their
hands are still dirty.

Doggy saliva is nothing compared to what's on your hands after using
the loo.

I personally prefer animals to most people. Dogs are far more
cheerful.

Sorry, but sitting at a table outdoors you are likely to come into
contact with a lot worse than god forbid, dog "germs". You don't think
that plenty of pigeons and other birds land on those tables and even
poop on them? I doubt that (actually I KNOW) that Starbucks doesn't
disinfect those tables, they usually rinse them down with a hose at
the end of the night or simply wipe them with a wet washcloth. Bird
poop carries Salmonella among other nasty germs.

Also, what is so bad about a dog sitting in a chair? I would rather
sit in a chair that a dog sat in then in a chair where someone sat
their child who was wearing a loaded diaper. Again, these chairs are
OUTSIDE- they are bound to come into contact with a lot worse than
dogs.

Who cares if they filled the dog's water bowl in the sink? Do you
seriously think that would cause some kind of germ infestation in the
sink? I bet the sink has seen a lot worse than that in any
establishment.

I can sort of understand being annoyed with the dog barking- however
most times that I have sat at an outdoor Starbucks there are always
obnoxious teenagers and loud adults as well. If you don't like it then
go INSIDE or drink your coffee at home.

Lastly, you really need to relax. I live with 7, yes SEVEN dogs. Don't
have a heart attack- I'm fine- my house is clean! They sleep in my
bed, sit on my sofa, and yes- I fill their water bowls in my sink!!!
I've never once contracted an illness from them in any way! I have
however gotten sick from filthy people who don't cover their mouths
when they cough or sneeze and who don't wash their hands regularly.
It's just a risk you take in life, especially if you ever wish to
venture out in public.
