while you are a bum for having thanksgiving at a cracker barrel, i agree on the waitresses shoddy service. i applaud you for keeping your cool, because i for one would have become quite hostile and most likely shoved those pies down her throat and kicked in her ovaries, but thats just me. i hope you realize that going to an establishment as bummish as cracker barrel is not in your best interest.... have a normal thanksgiving dinner you freak..

Sounds like a cranky waitress who didn't want to work that day and she decided to take it out on everybody else. Feel sorry for her. But i don't like a two-month late complaint at all.

Yes, it truly stinks to have to work on a holiday. I speak from years of experience. That, however, does not excuse poor (or hostile) service to your customers. The OP was very kind in listening to her mother and leaving a tip and refraining from complaining to the manager that day. I have worked in places where such attitude displayed toward patrons resulted in termination.

Why couldn't your brother toss a turkey in the oven, mix up a box of StoveTop, and mash a few potatoes?

There is no nefarious motive behind my "calling out" your comment.
As Redhead points out, people ask what the manager said when the letter writer brought the problem to the manager's attention all the time on PFB even though, in those cases, there is never an indication that the letter writer actually talked to the manager. Then, as you did, there is usually an admonition that the letter writer should bring it to the manager's attention.
Whenever I have seen these types of comments, I've always wondered what, exactly, is the point in phrasing it that way. I mean, I was pretty sure I got it - the commenter is trying to make their point in some "clever" way that will supposedly drive the point home to the letter writer and cause them to have an "aha" moment after which they will never, ever again commit the social faux paux of not telling a manager about their problem immediately.
But, this was just supposition on my part. So, when I saw your comment, I decided to ask in order to satisfy my curiosity. Your comment just happened to be the first one I saw after deciding to ask about it. Ultimately, it doesn't matter whether I understand or not...those kinds of questions will continue but now I have a better understanding as to why it's handled in this manner.
Here's what I find interesting: commenters pick at letter writers all day long on PFB - pointing out where they're wrong, making assumptions about letter writers and blaming them for all that is wrong with the world today - that's routinely accepted by fellow commenters; apparently as the whole point of having comments. Yet, I ask a question that is non-accusatory or threatening in a sincere attempt to understand specific behavior and, somehow, I'm behaving badly.
Thanks for your thoughts on this - it's been illuminating.

I agree with you that the person may have just come upon this site and decided to write this letter - and as you say, they did not ask for any freebies. I'll even give them that they were shy and did not want to confront anyone.
But it is 2 months later where it makes to hard for anyone to confirm what happened.
And if we go by the assumption that the person just found this site I just decided to see how long it would take to find where to post a complaint directly to Cracker Barrell -I googled Cracker Barrel - within 30 seconds I got to their site, found the contact us info immediately, and right there is a place to lodge a complaint. There just wasn't any reason to wait two months to write a complaint - that's all I'm saying.

IMHO, it's completely disingenuous to call this site "Planet Feedback" when there is a constant, passive aggressive undercurrent that prohibits anyone with a dissenting opinion from expressing it.
Even when commenters agree with the OP, but only in part, they are still met with same response that it's "mean" and "cruel" to tell an OP they are wrong or to have the gall to suggest that there is something they could have done to get a different response.
& FWIW, nowhere do I see any indications that any of the commenters believe that the OP's complaints are the sole source of the World's woes. So I just want to understand, do these people really want help and suggestions to remedy their situation or just to vent? Perhaps that should be better clarified.
