 NEVER GO TO JARED!!!

My fiance purchased a 3000 dollar engagement ring form Jared Jewelers in Mentor Ohio for me back in December or 2010, he had it custom made. He wanted princess cut and engraving, they told him it would take two weeks. It came back when it was supposed too, but round cut not princess and no engraving, which we paid more for. They sent it back to the factory, they told us one week. One week later it had the princess cut but not the engraving they said one more week. One week later we called the factory and they said it was done but hasnt been sent out yet. We decided to wait a couple days then called the store, they said they never received it. We call the factory back and they said they sent it out... We decided to wait a few more days and called the store back to see if they got it, low and behold still NO ring! We called back one week later still nothing. At this point it has been almost six weeks without a ring. I had my fiance call customer service and they told us to wait till Monday and if the ring wasnt there to call them. Well the ring was not there so we called customer service back and they tell us give us a week to investigate so we did, we called back and they say well we have to contact the factory, store and the truck driver still to see where the ring is and they told us then that when we called back and they didnt know where the ring was that they would give us store credit or a check so that we could purchanse another ring. Yesterday I had my fiance call customer service again, they still had no idea where the ring was they said the truck driver said it wasnt on the truck, its not at the factory or the store! Our ring is lost and said give them one more week....
It has been nearly 8 weeks without a ring and all we are getting is the run around.We are without a ring and out 3000 dollars we are very angry and this needs to be taken care of immediately. They told us we could get store credit or a check last week but now are not offering it to us. This is not fair and I will call my lawyer and the better business bureau as well if this is not taken care of by Monday 2/14/2011.
Give us our money or store credit so that I can get my engagement ring that I have been waiting for!!!!!

Did you ever get your money back? My son is going through a similar
ordeal with Jared in Tualatin Or. Less than 60 days to his wedding
date and no ring. Now its to threaten with legal intervention.
Was your situation resolved >

So what's the latest? Did you get a refund or did you finally get your
ring?

I'd call it quits (with Jared, not your finace!) and sue them NOW.
I'd quit talking to them, quit calling them, and I'd answer their
calls with, "here's my lawyer's name and number."

laywer yes bbb no.
only one of those two options is worth anything.
the lawyer can actually get the company in legal trouble if you can't
get your money back.
the bbb has no legal power

You said that the store said they would give you a store credit or
your money back so that you "could "purchanse" another ring"

Did he pay cash? or credit card? If cash, then he may have to go to
small claims court. But if credit, then he can ask the card company to
step, reverse the charge. Am so sorry you have had to go through this,
such an important time in your life! Good luck.

Sorry that this happened to you. I've still been waiting for my ring
for 7 years, but that's my boyfriend's issue, not a jewelry store's!
I've heard that for custom jewelry, local jewelry stores are the best
bet. Maybe one in your area would be able to help you if Jared comes
through with the refund. There are also websites where you could find
synthetic stones that are as good looking as the real ones. Cheaper,
just as shiny, and no one in Africa had to lose their hands over them!
