My friend and I after waiting 45 minutes for a table, felt very rushed, and some what embarressed. The place was packed and you can hear what is being said at tables around you. The waitress kinda made fun of us as we ordered the tur of italy but wanted to share it. She said thats it? you dont want two meals? We were like no thats what we wanted and I added a extra salad onto it. So we finalyy got our dinner and she kept coming to the table asking if we were done yet? I felt very rushed! I didnt even enjoy my meal. We ordered sangria drinks also. I have always loved the olive garden but this was ridiclous.

Im not sure what you should do but maybe not rush your guests. We pay a pretty penny to eat there and expect better service.

You pay 1/2 a prettu penny. Servers do NOT like working for 1/2 price.
When you do not order a meal your check is lower thus their tip is
lower. DO you like working for 1/2 price??? Likely since you didnt
order a meal, you were more work and goobled up loads of bread, which
the server had to fetch. More work less pay. Avoid this by letting the
server know, dont worry we will tp as if we ordered two meals-then do
so.

Was there a reason you did not tell her not to rush you and to please
not keep coming back and asking if you were done? I would have
complained to the manager on the spot and then ordered coffee or tea
for everyone and camped out at the table for another hour or so.

The waitress sounds horrible, after you got your food you should have
PURPOSELY lingered and tied up her station. The only problem with
that though is other customers waiting have to suffer. I hope you get
a response.

Wow - can't believe how things run astray sometimes. From a complaint
about poor service & food to a debate on local cuisine & if someone
should mention it or not. I believe it was wrong to totally dismiss
the valid complaint and pretty much say it was there fault to go to a
restraunt they wanted to. That's how I read it. Just read the feeds
and see how off track it has become.

I believe the person has a valid complaint and some people do not want
to contact the manager out of shyness or lack of wanting to confront
someone about a problem. They might feel safer and more comfortable
going through PFB. I have and I recieved the same out of context
responses and had to laugh at them.

I live in Savannah, GA where we DO have the opportunity to visit a lot
of local cuisine. I have lived in towns that if it was local - you
don't want to go there.

I guess to end my "rant" I will have to say:

To each his own.

Heh. Olive Garden is pasta cuisine. Not ITALIAN cuisine.

I have to disagree. I have gotten consistently good food at the Olive
Garden. The service is some time spotty, but I can forgive that. I
have been to a couple of local Italian restaurants and one couldnt
even cook the pasta correctly and the second had bad service and bad
food.

I agree with Olie's statement that usually locally-owned Italian
restaurants are better.

The worst service I've ever had at an Italian restaurant was at an
Olive Garden.

The worst food I've ever had was at a Lamberti's Cuchina.

The best food I've ever had - where the quality of food and service is
always consistent - is at Mrs. Robinos' in Wilmington, DE. Highly
recommended if anyone is ever travelling through DE and looking for
Italian. Entree prices are $7 to $12 so its affordable too!

I know of many locally owned restaurants and yes, there are times when
there might be bad service, but it's the ones who make the problem
right that are a better value.

Just because no one jumps up and screams "OMG! The food at [insert
Italian eatery here] is so awesome!!!11111!!!!" doesn't mean that
they're all bad.

People eat at places like Olive Garden because they believe they're
going to get a good value. Sometimes it's the family/locally owned
places that are better.

Olie made a blanket statement that belies belief. I simply pointed
that out.

I agree with you. Sometimes it IS the family/locally owned places
that are better. But to claim they all are (as Olie did) is flat out
preposterous.

I apologize for apparently causing you angst.

What's wrong with people in your area thinking Olive Garden is the absolute greatest place for Italian food? by Jake G. Tue March 22, 2011 @ 11:38 AM
