Celebrity Apprentice Advertising on NBC

Posted Thu April 28, 2011 12:00 pm, by Tanya S. written to Snapple Beverage Corp

Write a Letter to this Company

I have been appalled in recent months as Donald Trump has belittled and insulted countless Americans with his attempts to discredit the leadership of President Barack Obama with old fashioned race baiting tactics.

I am more disappointed that popular companies such as yours are supporting and monetarily benefiting from Donald Trump's program "The Celebrity Apprentice" notwithstanding Trump’s obvious support of fringe elements of the American electorate that advocate racism, xenophobia, and divisiveness in this country.

I want to alert you to the fact that Donald Trump--whose show you sponsor on NBC--is using the notoriety and status "Celebrity Apprentice" affords him to make outlandish accusations about the President and to advance baseless theories that prey on race-based fears. I need not describe these theories in detail as they has dominated the news. What is clear is that the claims are ludicrous, and the rhetoric is racially divisive and pollutes our public discourse.

While I support differences of opinion about policy, I will never support race baiting. I presume that your company also does not want to enable such rhetoric, nor have your products or services associated with the kind of views and tactics espoused by Trump. I urge you to immediately cease all advertising on "Celebrity Apprentice" and on NBC and its affiliated networks.

Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely,

Some people STILL listen to the shows even though they hate them.

Although of course that doesn't mean the show's content should change.
One shouldn't have to change their political views - or have their
views silenced - just because other individuals disagree with those
views.

That's the beauty of the 1A...

and in many cases it's also the beauty of owning your own venue or
show... no one can really MAKE you shut up. Even if particular
representatives write you a letter on official senate letterhead
suggesting that you apologize for your remarks... you still don't have
to listen to them.

isn't freedom grand?

Or you could actually do something about it, like write a letter.
Trump gets to go on every news and tabloid shown know to man and shout
his opinion...but us regular folk should just shut up and shut off the
tv.

I used to watch the show on a regular basis. After his challenging
questions to your President I decided to stop watching. My hope is
that, if he runs for the top office, the public is able to recognize
him as a "also ran" candidate.

Um, you forgot history so quickly? Clinton was impeached for a felony offense. by PepperElf Sat May 14, 2011 @ 10:25 AM

Exactly, Clinton was impeached and not removed from office... by jeishere Mon May 16, 2011 @ 9:44 AM

I never said they would or wouldn't. I just wondered if the records would show anything and suggested that may be why it was an issue. n/t by PepperElf Mon May 16, 2011 @ 2:52 PM

There is a simple, and easy solution to this problem. If you do not
like what Donald Trump has to say, don't watch him. You don't like
C.A, don't watch it. And just to add to the charity thing for
Snapple. All the money that is on celebrity apprentice goes to
chairity.

I do not agree with anything the Don says, but did you know that
proceeds from those specialty blended Snapples go to charity? Please
read the label next time you are in the store and have a sec. Holly
Robinson Peete was on a talk show a few months ago speaking about how
much money her tea flavor has raised.

Great letter - no "threats" about boycotting the products...just
asking them to consider not advertising on the show.

I think the Donald has totally lost his mind

Great letter and I agree with the writer 100%.

Trump may be decent at business (although I don't think its hard to do
well at business when you inherit millions of dollars as Trump did to
help you get started), but he is an utter MORON when it comes to
common sense matters and to politics.

Obama releases his birth certificate and did that satisfy Trump?

Oh no, now he's rambling on about wanting to see Obama's academic
records.

If Trump wants to conduct an investigation of academic records,
perhaps he can investigate how George W. Bush got into Yale and
Harvard Business School when his high school grades were AWFUL.

Perhaps he can explain why people cast their votes for W. when he was
a failed businessman who ran the Texas Rangers baseball team and
several oil services businesses he was put in charge of into the
ground. Why would anyone think W. would be a good C.I.C. when he
couldn't run a business (i.e. managing the affairs of our country can
be viewed as running a large, multinational corporation) and tunr a
profit?

If Obama released his academic records, Trump would just find
something else to whine about.

Next, it'll be Obama's Defensive Driving record...or his Cub Scout
records.....or Trump will be whining about how Obama couldn't color
within the lines with his crayons when he was a little kid in
kindergarden.

The long and the short of it is Trump is behaving like a spoiled brat
or an immature child and he should just put on his big-boy pants and
GROW UP.
