Self check out at Kroger is a big pain

Kroger sometimes forces customers to use self check out( early morning or late at night) which is fine for getting a few things, but is a huge inconvenience when there is a cart load of food. It takes much longer and there is not enough room in the "bagging area" so it sometimes freezes up the machine and notifies the disinterested underpaid attendant. Also it takes longer to scan produce which has no bar code, or use coupons. Also there is nobody with the authority to address customer service issues at that hour so the "Attendant" gets bombarded with angry customers or people who need something that the " Attendant" is not able to deal with. this slows things down further. It gives the impression that Kroger does not care about their employees or their customers.
It would be nice if there was ONE check out line open at all times AND a manager working at All times to address people with customer service issues. I dont think the store would go broke, in fact I think people would come back more often and buy more. A lot of what I was buying at Kroger, I now buy at Wal Mart.
