MacBook Pro Battery Performance

Six months ago I purchased a new MacBook Pro computer at a price of over $1000. In the time since than I have been having an increasing amount of problems with the performance of my unit's battery. My computer has shut down with the battery only at half-empty by the indicator on the system. She has also shut down when the battery is not even on the red-line for being empty.
I have already visited the Apple store twice with my concerns. In one instance they tested my machine for one full day and found nothing. The techs have insisted that I run down my battery occasionally, but that has given me no relief. The problem always seems to return, despite my efforts to maintain a fully up-to-date system.
If I am suffering from this glitch, than certainly others are too. I would like the Apple engineers to resolve this problem and release a patch. Should they prove incapable of doing this, than I want a partial refund of my money for my less capable machine. Perhaps $500 for my machine that is clearly now unreliable as a laptop.

I have had my Macbook Pro for over six months, and have not had any battery or shut-down problems. The only issue I have had, was my charger failed after about two months. I contacted Apple Care, told them the problem, and received a new charger within two days, at no charge as my unit is still under warranty. We also have an IMac in our household that has had no problems. Sorry to hear you are having issues with yours.

While I don't have an Apple laptop, I do plug in my laptop when I use it. I think I used battery power on a plane, and maybe in an airport with a woefully inadequate number of outlets.
We have a charger that plugs into the car's cigarette lighter. That's what the kids use in the back seat when we take longer trips, to watch DVDs.
I am a bit of a Luddite on some computer terms. Isn't a "patch" something to fix or update software? How would a patch fix your hardware issue?

you don't know anyone with that problem, doesn't mean the OP doesn't know someone with that problem.
There's an actual term for the argument 'I don't have that problem, therefore it doesn't exist' and like most shortcuts, it's lazy and doesn't prove anything.

That he knows others with this problem - he's saying because he does others do as well.
