My Dog's Ear was Severely Damaged !!

When my girl goes to the groomer I always check her out before I leave
the store.I like to ask the tough queations: "How was she?" " Any
issues?" If perchance there was an issue, I would know about it when I
get home and not days later.

Yep... I can see it happening. A small cut on the ear (which can
happen if the groomer used scissors to trim the hair around the ears)
which doesn't get proper attention will need to be trimmed (the actual
ear) so there's live tissue that can be stitched. If it became
infected, that could necessitate more removal of dead skin/tissue. It
could have been avoided had the groomer mentioned the incident to you,
which they should have done.

I can understand your vet bills, but since animals are considered
property, you aren't going to be able to recover for Angus' pain and
suffering nor that of your children.

I'm sorry your dog was hurt - I am a pet owner myself and have both
cats and dogs.

That being said - I do not understand how an injury had enough to
cause a possible amputation could go unnoticed for a week. You don't
mention the breed of dog but logic would dictate that if it needed to
be sewn up that there would have been blood at some point. I don't
understand how they could have explained to you how it happened - by
your own admission a week had gone by - and you don't seem to have
pointed anything out to them while in the salon.

I don't blame petsmart for not taking responsibility.

If it's so badly damaged, how could you not notice it for a week? I'm
a pet owner, and owned a dog for 12 years, and they couldn't get an
eye booger without my noticing it.

at this point it may be in your best interest to get a lawyer


the manager will not assume responsibility for the vet bills,
especially if the damage wasn't noticed until a week after the
grooming.

agreeing to pay would mean that they are agreeing with the claim that
the groomer cut the dog that badly. and if there's a chance that the
dog was injured some other way after being groomed they would not want
to be stuck with the bills or legal fees.

If his ear is bad enough to have to be stitched and possibly
amputated, how is it you didn't notice it for a week? Do you have
proof that it actually happened when he went for grooming? I doubt
that Petsmart will pay anything but stop back and let us know how this
whole thing works out.

A week is about 6 days too late to file a claim.

If you did not notice it for about a week one could wonder if it
happened while in your care.
