Brand New Defective Item & AMAZON won't help !!!!!!!

Purchased a power washer from AMAZON.COM. I had the Karcher 330 power washer for appx 10yrs & it finally wore out. Thought I'd get a more powerful model this time so I wouldn't have to stand on a ladder to clean the top level of my home. Pulled it out of the box connected everything properly, turned on the hose & water came shooting out through the motor area ( which is obviously not supposed to happen) . I know how to use this since I previously stated I had another Karcher model for ten years. Apparently whoever put this together forgot a gasket or something important. I bought it more than a year ago & this is the first time it was needed, so now its not even under warranty. I purchased this from AMAZON & they are UNWILLING TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY , so I'm not shopping w them anymore . I realize a year has passed but it was brand new & defective right out of the box. At this point I would have felt a store credit would have been at least acceptable. Its not my fault it was broken & AMAZON still sells these so they could have graciously accepted a return but chose not to

Give me a refund or store credit. Amazon still sells this item even though a year has passed & could have been gracious & helpful but chose not to be.

Amazon will bend over backwards for returns or exchanges. They get
all over their sellers to correct the issues when it's a used item and
they always usually correct the problem. It's unreasonable for you to
expect that they help you out after you've had a big item like this
for over a year. Why you would purchase a big ticket item like this
and not at least take it out of the box and test it immediately I have
no idea. But it's not Amazon's problem. You messed up here.

How is Amazon suppose to know that you just used it once after having
it for an enire year?

I just don't GET people who buy things that they don't really need
right at that time. It's one thing to stock up on toilet paper or
dish soap. But to buy a power washer or a major household appliance
and then let it sit for months or a year before even opening it and
getting some use out of it? I just don't get that.

Besides, by letting it sit for a year without using it, it's possible
that any rubber o-rings for the seals may have dried out.

Great examples by RedheadwGlasses Tue July 19, 2011 @ 12:55 PM

indeed smart to test it out - cos return policy starts when you buy the item, not when you finally decide to use it n/t by PepperElf Tue July 19, 2011 @ 3:54 PM

It's outside of the return policy.

They have no way to verify your claim that you didn't open it for a
year.

is that the problem is Karcher's NOT Amazon's.

They didn't assemble it, and it's not their fault you opted to not
examine the merchandise for a year! Just as you so emphatically state
that it's not YOUR fault it's broken, well, it's not Amazon's fault
either.

How could they possibly think this was going to happen? For all they
knew, you opened it and used it immediately and were pleased as pie
with it!

Get your paperwork together (you did save all the instructions and
warranty info, right?) and call the manufacturer's customer service!

you are really being unfair to amazon here. They are extremely
helpful with returns. I order from them all the time and have many
household items on autoship from them.I have never had one problem
when I needed to return a defective item or anything along those
lines.

I dont think that any business - unless the product is covered by
warranty - should be expected to accept a return after a year.

I'm sorry but you are way beyond the return period and also outside
the manufacturer warranty period so this is on you. How is Amazon
supposed to know that you never used it?

You state they still sell it but if they accept it as a return and
give you another, they are out two power washers for the price of one.
Since it's beyond the manufacturers warranty, Amazon cannot "damage"
it back to them.

I will never understand why someone would buy something and not test
it right away. Why wait a year? Most warranties are 30-90 days.
Some parts might be more.

This is 100% on you for not testing it out when you got it. After
sitting for a year how do you know the seal didnt dry out because of
how you stored it?

Have you contacted the manufacturer? Even if it is out of warranty,
they may help. If they won't stand be hind the product, why would
you expect Amazon to?
