ihome malfunction

I bought an ihome about two year ago and after just about one year it suddenly broke and wouldn't connect to my ipod. I was past the warranty at the walmart I had bought it at so in my frustration I kicked it against the wall and threw it into the trash.I've owned over three ipods and I like them but ihomes so far are a waste for me so I haven't replaced the broken ihome with a new one I'm just to skeptical.

I would like to understand why my ihome that I always treated with respect would suddenly malfunction. It cost me $60.00 and I think that Apple should refund or replace it.

iHome is not an Apple product. My iHomes have always lasted about 4-5
years each. I'm on my second. It's possible that by inserting your
iPod, you bent some of the pins on it. Either that or your iHome was
just a bum iHome.

I could be wrong but I don't think that IHOME is an Apple product.

I would like to beleive you are a younger woman Kaitlin. With age
comes "don't sweat the small stuff" I understand your frustration but
I always find the strength to look for another outlet rather then
destroy a possession. Yoga might help. How about a sport? Running,
swimming etc. What about reading? Your ipod might have been repaired
for little money. I guess you will never know.

i think she only destroyed her speakers in a fit of anger, not the ipod. or at least i hope she wouldn't do that too... by PepperElf Mon October 17, 2011 @ 5:47 PM

You aren't owed a refund or a replacement. You kicked the product,
which damaged it further, and then threw it away.

So, you don't deserve anything.

but they should replace it?

Um, OK.

You bought it two years ago.
It broke after one year.

Hmmmm

apple ownes you nothing, they didn't manufacture the product.
Electronic items break down, that's just the nature of the beast.

1) It is out of warranty
Manufacturers are NOT responsible for free repairs of items that are
no longer covered.

2) It was kicked and thrown in the trash.
Even if you had a current warranty, intentionally kicking the item
into a wall will most likely void it.

Not to mention now that it's in the trash, there's no way they can
verify it was damaged before you kicked it.

As for apple... as others have said, they didn't make it. iHome is an
independent company.

1) Apple does not make this product. A simple Google search will
provide that info for you.

2) Why should iHome refund you anything since you admitted you damaged
the item, then threw it away?

Refund an item that really doesn't exist anymore? You threw it away.

Wait, so the product is out of warranty, abused and destroyed and then
thrown in the garbage and you want a company that didn't make it to
replace it?

Yeah.. that makes a LOT of sense...

Why should Apple replace it? At this point, since you threw a
tantrum, you have zero proof that you even owned one.

Why would it suddenly malfunction? It's a piece of electronic
equipment which you admit was two years old. Unless you take out an
extended warranty your purchase does not come with lifetime
replacements.

Just to let you know - just because they put an "i" in front of the
product name, it is not made by Apple.

I have an iHome Kitchen timer/music player. It is manufactured and
serviced by SDI Technologies. It gives the website (ihomeaudio.com)
and toll free number right on the bottom.

Although you may not be able to read the number since you stated you
kicked it and threw it in the trash (with respect).
